Driver shoots at kids playing basketball in the street
(WEWS/CNN/Meredith) — Police in Akron, Ohio are investigating after a driver got out of his car and fired a gun at two kids playing basketball Monday afternoon.
The incident was caught on video. You can see a man in a hooded sweatshirt fire three shots at the kids.
The kids were identified as being friends who are ages 11 and 15, but their names were not released.
The boys say it all started with a car speeding toward them in the street where they were playing basketball, with the older boy pushing the younger one out of harm’s way.
The driver then got out of the car and used foul language toward the boys. The 15-year-old then yelled at the driver to slow down.
Then, the driver walked back to his car, retrieved a gun, and fired at the boys. The boys ran to a home for cover and the driver took off.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Police say they are following some promising leads but have not made any arrests.
