Ja Rule Refuses to Feel Shame Over Fyre Festival Failure, Says It Was ‘Beyond Brilliant’
Following Ja Rule’s infamous Fyre Festival apology of “this is NOT MY FAULT… but I’m taking responsibility” via Notes app screenshot last spring, he spoke about the disastrous luxury music fest once more on Revolt TV’s Drink Champs. Little has changed: he still doesn’t feel any shame about it because “the idea” (which he maintains was his own) was “brilliant.”
In a video interview published on Friday, Ja admitted:
“I’m not ashamed. I’m not ashamed of Fyre at all. Because man, the idea, it was brilliant. It was fuckin’ beyond brilliant…It was amazing. It wasn’t what I dreamed it of being and what I envisioned of it being and what I wanted it to be. It wasn’t done properly…People didn’t really know I had anything to do with the festival until it went wrong. And then it was like, ‘Ja Rule’s festival!’ It was my idea, my vision to do this. And I’m no way, shape or form ashamed of my vision of what it was to do this. I wanted to create something amazing.”
Ja does offer something of a proper apology, if you need it. The aftermath of the festival was a mess and several the attendees filed lawsuits):
“I should’ve been more on top of things. I should’ve not trusted people with certain things. And maybe, I’m positive things wouldn’t have been like that. That part of it, I take all responsibility.”
He concludes with, “Never give nobody the keys to your motherfucking car.” I’d give it the addendum of “…especially if you’re putting large adult son Billy McFarland in the driver’s seat, a boy of little experience and even littler problem-solving ability.”
