Woman gets pregnant while already pregnant

(Meredith/CNN) — A woman in England has given birth to two children three weeks apart in what experts are calling “Super Twins.”

According to MSN, Rebecca Roberts, 39, went in for her 12-week ultrasound, only to have doctors tell her that she wasn’t pregnant with just one baby, but two.

The phenomenon is called “superfetation,” which happens when an egg is released mid-pregnancy and is implanted in the uterus.

Superfetation may only happen in one out of a few million pregnancies, experts say. It’s so rare, there are less than 10 documented cases in medical history.

Roberts gave birth to a baby boy, Noah, at 33 weeks and gave birth at 30 weeks to baby girl, Rosalie.
