A Houston-based hairdresser who has used Gorilla Glue on hair for years says there’s only one way to safely apply it
Article via YahooNews
Houston-based hairdresser Eric Vaughn says he’s been using Gorilla Glue for years and in a now-viral TikTok video, he explains the safe way to use it.
“The only time you should use it is at the end of a sew-in,” Vaughn says in the video, referring to hair extensions.
Vaughn’s video comes after a 40-year-old Louisana woman, Tessica Brown, went viral last week for putting Gorilla Glue in her hair after running out of hairspray, TMZ reported.
Brown, 40, posted a video in early February on her Instagram telling people her hair had been stuck in the same position for a month.
“Y’all, my hair…it don’t move at all,” Brown told viewers, explaining that she ran out of her usual hair spray and opted for a Gorilla Glue adhesive spray. Even after 15 washes and a trip to the emergency room, Brown’s hair was still stuck.
Amid Brown’s viral video, Vaughn posted his own video on Wednesday showing viewers how he uses the product on clients.
“I’ll take my threads and knot them together, take a tiny little dot of Gorilla Glue, blow-dry and cut that and that knot is going nowhere,” Vaughn says.
“But don’t put this on your actual hair,” Vaughn warned in the video.
“I wanted to show that in a professional setting Gorilla Glue is appropriately used on hair extensions. In the hands of a professional can be used appropriately to ensure that no knot comes unraveled,” Vaughn told Insider.
“It honestly came about as I was doing an extension service in the salon and went to pick up my gorilla glue to glue my knot and immediately thought oh wait this will be the perfect moment to educate on using this tool correctly,” he added
Gorilla Glue in a statement said, “We are very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Miss Brown experienced using our spray adhesive on her hair. This is a unique situation because this product is not indicated for use in or on hair as it is considered permanent.”
On February 12, Brown underwent a successful removal procedure with the help of Beverly Hill-based plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng. She was also able to retain some of her hair through the procedure and can be seen running her fingers through it and feeling her scalp in a video obtained exclusively by TMZ.
NYPD arrests suspect in connection with four subway stabbings that left 2 dead
Article via CNN
The New York City Police Department arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the four subway stabbings that left two people dead over the weekend, the NYPD’s Transit Bureau tweeted Sunday.
The suspect has been charged with murder and attempted murder, the Transit Bureau said. CNN is not naming the person publicly identified by the NYPD at this time, and is attempting to identify their attorney.”This investigation continues, and we thank everyone for the help they provided in this case,” said the Transit Bureau, which is responsible for the safety and security of New York City’s subway passengers.
NYPD deployed 500 troops on subway system
The arrest follows NYPDs deployment of an additional 500 officers to patrol the city’s subway system after four stabbings in less than 24 hours.Victims in the four separate incidents were “cut with a sharp object,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a news conference Saturday afternoon.”The bottom line that the public should know is this: They can expect to see a very large footprint of uniformed officers deployed throughout New York City whether they go onto a train or whether they go onto a platform,” Shea said.
Shea said the four attacks occurred on the A line, a subway line that runs between northern Manhattan and Queens.Besides the two deaths, two other victims are recovering from their injuries. All four victims were homeless and the attacks appear to be unprovoked, said Deputy Chief Brian McGee, the commanding officer of the Manhattan North detective bureau. The attacks began on Friday morning when a 67-year old man was stabbed by an unknown man inside the 181 Street station in upper Manhattan and later treated at a nearby hospital, NYPD Chief of Transit Kathleen O’Reilly told reporters. An adult male was found dead with “stab wounds to his neck and torso” on the A-train at the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue train station in Queens on Friday around 11:30 p.m., O’Reilly said.
Approximately two hours later on Saturday, an unconscious 44-year-old woman was found inside a train car at the Inwood 207 Street station in upper Manhattan with “multiple stab wounds,” according to O’Reilly. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, O’Reilly said.Less than 20 minutes after that incident, police officers responded to calls about a 43-year-old man who was stabbed at the 181 Street station. He told officers he was stabbed by an unknown man and was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery, according to McGee.”Three of these incidents appear to be connected and the Detective Bureau is looking into the possibility that all four could have been committed by one individual,” O’Reilly said.
‘Worst Cooks in America’ winner claims child died from drinking too much water
The winner of the Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America” season 20 — who is charged with the murder of her 3-year-old foster daughter — claimed in court Friday that the child died from drinking too much water.
Ariel Robinson, 29, and her husband Jerry Robinson, 34, were arrested in Simpsonville, South Carolina, and have been charged with homicide by child abuse for the January murder of little Victoria Rose Smith.
The foster mom appeared virtually during her bond hearing on Friday, when prosecutors revealed she told first responders she believed the toddler drowned from drinking too much water. A judge ultimately denied her $40,000 bond request, according to WHNS-TV.
Ariel Robinson claimed she performed the Heimlich maneuver on the child, thinking she was choking, and that she pressed on her stomach, which probably caused bruising to the girl’s abdomen, the outlet reported.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office determined Victoria died from blunt force injuries.
Jerry Robinson gave investigators a different account of what happened the day the child died.
He reportedly told investigators he was outside of a room while his wife repeatedly beat Victoria with a belt. He also stated that she used a “belt, paddle, flip flop, or whatever” in past beatings.
Ariel Robinson starred on the hit Food Network reality show where she won season 20 in August. Food Network has pulled the entire season from Discovery+, Hulu and YouTube, according to Deadline.

LAPD probes cops over Valentine’s Day-style photo mocking George Floyd
The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an internal investigation into cops allegedly sharing a Valentine’s Day-style graphic featuring George Floyd with the inscription, “You take my breath away.”
The distasteful photo of Floyd, who suffocated to death while being pinned down by cops in Minneapolis last year, was reportedly being “passed around” within the department’s ranks, the LA Times said in a report.
“Our investigation is to determine the accuracy of the allegations while also reinforcing our zero-tolerance for anything with racist views,” Police Chief Michel Moore told the newspaper.
The chief said the culprits “will find my wrath” if the probe leads to them.
Police said a cop in the department reported the image to officials, prompting the probe.
The department said on its LAPD HQ Twitter page that it will have “zero tolerance.”
“At this point the department has not identified any actual postings in the workplace or identified that it was in fact our department employee who created the image,” one post said.
“We have raised the apparent existence of the image and directed commands to survey the worksites for it.”
Floyd’s death on May. 25 sparked worldwide protests calling for racial justice and against police violence against minorities.

Nicki Minaj’s dad killed in a hit-and-run in Long Island
Nicki Minaj’s father was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Long Island, police said Sunday.
Robert Maraj, 64, was struck around 6 p.m. Friday as he was walking in Mineola, according to Nassau County Police. The driver fled before witnesses could get a clear look at who was behind the wheel, cops said.
The rap superstar’s dad was initially listed in critical condition at a local hospital but died from his injuries at some point over the weekend, police said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the crash and asking anyone who saw the collision at the intersection of Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue to come forward.
Minaj — who was born Onika Tanya Maraj and raised in Queens — reportedly had a rocky relationship with her father.

An Indiana teen is one of the first Black female Eagle Scouts
(CNN) — Kendall Jackson went on her first Boy Scout camping trip with her mother and older brother when she was just a toddler, and now the Indiana teen is one of the first Black females to become an Eagle Scout.
Jackson was 15-years-old when the Scouts started admitting girls in 2019, so she knew she’d have to hurry to reach her goal of earning its highest rank before her 18th birthday.
“I was just ready to go. I was eager to get started and be able to have this opportunity,” she said. “I was overwhelmed with joy and I was ecstatic to be able to join.”
She’s now 17 and part of the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts — which includes young women who earned the rank between Oct. 1, 2020, and Feb. 8, 2021.
“We are thrilled that hundreds of diverse young women have attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, which is widely valued by universities, employers, and other respected institutions around the world,” the Boy Scouts of America said in a statement.
Only about 6% of all Scouts ever earn the rank.
Officials are still finalizing the number of female Eagle Scouts but said Jackson is one of 21 Black women known to have reached the rank.
“It’s definitely something that’s amazing, to say that I’m a part of Black history now, but I know I never really considered it,” she said.
Scouting is a big deal in Jackson family.
Her mom, Kellauna Mack, has been the scoutmaster for Troop 53 in Gary, Indiana, for 22 years. She is also the assistant scoutmaster for Troop 53G, Jackson’s troop, and an executive with the Scouts’ Pathway to Adventure Council.
Jackson said her mom’s experience helped her speed through the lower ranks.
“I had picked up certain skills, like learning the Scout Oath and the Scout Law, I had been saying it since I could talk,” she said.
She’s earned 39 merit badges, which is almost twice as many as she needed to reach the rank.
It’s also more than her brother has — he’s nine years older and they’ve always been competitive, Mack says.
“Her goal was to do everything times two that her brother did,” Mack said. “So she wanted more merit badges. She wanted more leadership position. She wanted to do her project bigger. That was always her goal.”
She also had to hold leadership positions and organize a large service project to earn the rank.
For her Eagle Scout project, Jackson set up an all-day seminar and a resource guide to help high school seniors in the class of 2021 prepare for life after high school — whether they planned to go to college or learn a trade, join the military or go into the workforce.
Mack says her son, who’s also an Eagle Scout, is incredibly proud of his sister and got to present her medal at her Feb. 7 ceremony.
Jackson’s first merit badge was Traffic Safety and she says it was also one of her favorites because she was just learning to drive and the lessons she picked up have been a big help on the road.
She says she picked up a lot of skills — like money management — that will help her throughout her life and even tried paper making, which is something she wouldn’t have done outside of Scouting.
Jackson is still active in her troop and hopes to encourage more girls to get involved in Scouting.
“I’ve made some really close friends, and we just enjoy being around each other and being able to learn the skills that will help us be better prepared for life,” she said. “We can also do those things while having fun.”
The decision to admit girls to the organization was controversial at the time, but the Scouts are celebrating these young women’s achievements.
“In earning this rank, young people gain new skills, learn to overcome obstacles, and demonstrate leadership among their peers and in their communities,” the group said in its statement. “These benefits are invaluable, and we are elated that they are now available to even more youth.”
Jackson will be featured in their upcoming “Be the Change” virtual event that will honor the first class of female Eagle Scouts, according to the organization.

Man, woman charged with stealing funeral home van with body inside
ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A man and woman are charged with stealing a funeral home van that had a woman’s body inside of it.
Brian Schaake, 38, is charged with stealing a motor vehicle and Christina Kalb is charged with misdemeanor tampering with a motor vehicle. Both suspects are from Springfield, Illinois.
A white 2012 Nissan NV1500 van was transporting a body when it was stolen off the parking lot of the QuikTrip at 12110 Lusher Road just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday. According to police, the van was running and left unattended on the parking lot at the time. Authorities said the van has “William C Harris Funeral” decals on its side and green wreaths with an “H” inside of them on the back. The driver went inside the gas station to use the restroom.
Police say surveillance footage showed Schaake and Kalb walk across the street from Walgreens and get into the van and drive off. Schaake was spotted getting into the driver’s seat while Kalb was observed getting into the passenger’s seat.
The stolen van and woman’s body were found around 10 a.m. Friday. According to authorities, two suspects were arrested in Festus in relation to the theft. A concerned citizen called police after recognizing the van, Festus police said.
Police say both suspects admitted to stealing the van. Authorities believe Schaake is currently homeless. He has a history of stealing-related offenses. Schaake is being held on a $40,000 cash-only bond. Kalb has been released.

California real estate agent fired after vulgar, racist rant goes viral
A California man was fired from his job over a rude, racist and misogynist rant against a pedestrian that went viral.
A twitter user named ‘Em’ posted Thursday: “At 5pm I was walking in Brentwood at the intersection of Bundy & Montana. I stopped to look at my phone when this man came out of his home & verbally assaulted me. He approached me, maskless. I asked him to step away. He called me “stupid blue hair asian girl” & “dumb bitch.””
In the footage, Em is filming an agitated man who is walking two dogs in the tony Los Angeles neighborhood. The intersection where she claims to be is just a few hundred yards from the site of the infamous double murder that OJ Simpson was acquitted of.
The events that preceded the footage are unclear, but the man is seen antagonizing the woman, by asking, “Are you up against the car? No one is going to pay attention to you because you’re dumb and you’re a stupid blue Asian haired girl.”
The man says “f–k you” four times before taking his phone out and walking toward her while saying, “I can record you, you dumb bitch.”
“Get the f–k out of here you dumb bitch,” the angry man bellows at her before the 70-second clip ends.
Twitter users scrambled to identify the man as Mike Dalcin, a real estate agent at Beach City Brokers.
The company swiftly gave him a pink slip and made an announcement on Facebook.
“We have become aware of a video circulating on social media that involves a new agent we recently hired….Effective immediately, Mike Dalcin has been removed as an agent from our office and is no longer an agent at our Company. Beach City Brokers insist and will always maintain a high standard of integrity and ethics and will not tolerate racism or any other unprofessional behavior,” the post read.
On Twitter, “Em” said she reported the incident to the LAPD, which declined to investigate.
The incident happened less than two blocks away from Nicole Brown Simpson’s home, where she and Ronald Goldman were murdered in 1994.
Simpson lived at 875 S Bundy Drive, according to the LA Times.
Dalcin could not be immediately reached for comment.

2 sanitation workers save 10-year-old girl who was reported kidnapped
A 10-year-old Louisiana girl who was abducted over the weekend was found safe after two sanitation workers spotted the suspected kidnapper’s vehicle.
The girl had gone missing on Sunday afternoon from a family member’s home in New Iberia, about 20 miles southeast of Lafayette.
New Iberia police issued an Amber Alert for her and an arrest warrant for her alleged abductor, who police identified as Michael Sereal. Authorities said Sereal was last seen driving a silver Nissan Altima.
Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine, who work for Pelican Waste & Debris, said they had just started their route on Monday morning when they noticed a silver Nissan parked in the middle of a field in St. Martin Parish.
Merrick said he immediately recognized the car from the Amber Alert.
“I told the guy who rides with me, that’s the car. I pulled forward and backed up to block the entrance [to the field] and then called 911,” he said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
Merrick said the driver of the vehicle opened the car door and Antoine recognized him as the suspect from the Amber Alert. They relayed the information to the 911 dispatcher. Police were at the scene in under a minute.
Merrick detailed St. Martin Parish deputies’ arrival in a Facebook Live video that has garnered two million views as of Wednesday. In it, authorities take Sereal into custody as he yells, “Why are you doing this to me?”
He’s since been transferred to New Iberia and charged with aggravated kidnapping and failure to register as a sex offender, according to jail records. He is listed on the New Iberia sex offender database for a conviction on carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
A spokeswoman for the police department said Sereal is an acquaintance of one of the girl’s family members. It was not immediately clear if he has obtained an attorney.
The girl was reunited with her family after the ordeal.
Merrick, a 39-year-old father and U.S. Navy veteran, started working for Pelican Waste less than three months ago. He said he didn’t think twice about helping the little girl.
“I didn’t want anything to happen to her,” he said. “We’re all from the same town. We’re a big community, it might be a small town, but we’re a close-knit community so I had to do what I had to do for my community.”
Pelican Waste & Debris praised Merrick and Antoine for their roles in saving the girl.
“At Pelican Waste we strive for a family atmosphere and try to emanate that to our workers. We are super proud of the genuine efforts by these valued employees now and always,” a spokesperson for the company said. “This was an exceptional thing that may very well have saved a little girl’s life.”
