Federal authorities expected to erect ‘non-scalable’ fence around White House
Federal authorities are expected to put back into place a “non-scalable” fence around the entire perimeter of the White House on Monday as law enforcement and other agencies prepare for possible protests surrounding the election, a source with knowledge of the matter confirmed to CNN.
The fence, the same type that was put up during protests this summer, will encompass the Ellipse and Lafayette Square. It will go down 15th Street to Constitution Avenue and then over to 17th Street. The fence will then run up to H Street and across by Lafayette, and then come down 15th Street, the source said. NBC News was first to report the new fencing. A Secret Service spokeswoman declined to comment to CNN, saying the agency does not comment on security measures.
The extra layer of security marks the most high-profile example to date of authorities preparing for unrest following this year’s election, particularly if there is no clear winner come November 4. As CNN previously reported, the immediate perimeters around the White House have already been largely blocked off to the public this year for a range of reasons, from construction on the White House gate, to protests and looting that occurred in downtown Washington in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.
Lafayette Park, across the street from the north side of the White House and a popular protest gathering spot, had also largely been fenced-in since police aggressively moved in on protesters alongside it in July.
Washington, DC, Metro Police Chief Peter Newsham warned the District’s City Council last month there was wide expectation of some type of civil unrest following the election. And many businesses in the downtown DC area in the proximity of the White House have boarded up doors and windows in the last couple of days in anticipation of possible protests. During this past summer, some businesses saw their windows smashed and other property damaged by protesters.
But DC Metro police have been preparing its officers for well over a year, as it does ahead of every general election, ensuring that they are prepared to handle everything from civil disturbance to crowd control to potential disruptions to metro transit, Patrick Burke, executive director of the Washington, DC, Police Foundation, previously told CNN.
Police have also been working with intelligence officials to ensure the security of Washington, DC’s airspace in the event of an attack from above, Burke added, as they routinely do when preparing for moments of heightened anxiety.
“If there’s no winner, you will see significant deployments of officers at all levels across the capital,” said Burke. “Officers will get cancellations of days off, extensions of shifts and full deployments of officers across the city.”

Cardi B Decides to Call Off Divorce From Rapper Husband Offset
I Personally Spoke to Cardi B concerning her Divorce from Offset, and here is what she had to say!
Article via Extra
Over a month after she filed for divorce from Offset, rapper Cardi B has filed to dismiss her divorce.
In papers obtained by “Extra,” Cardi submitted the request to dismiss her case “without prejudice” on November 1 in Atlanta.
Her request, which comes a few days before a court hearing, means that she is able to refile at a later date.
A judge has not signed off yet.
In September, Cardi filed divorce, noting that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” in papers obtained by “Extra.” At the time, Cardi and Offet were in a “bona fide state of separation.”
Weeks ago, Cardi explained why she reconciled with Offset, telling her Instagram followers, “I just be starting to miss [him]. It’s hard not to talk to your best friend. And it’s really hard to have no d**k.”
Reconciliation rumors started swirling after they were spotted looking every bit the couple at her 28th birthday celebration in Las Vegas. He also gifted her with a Rolls-Royce truck and an $8,000 leather car seat for their daughter Kulture.
Two years ago, Cardi and Offset called it quits. In a now-deleted video, she said, “So everybody been bugging me and everything and you know I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now. We are really good friends and we are really good business partners — you know he’s always somebody that I run to to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
“It’s nobody fault. I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore,” Cardi continued. “I don’t know, it might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father.”

Offset went through great measures to win Cardi back, including crashing her set at the Rolling Loud Festival at the Banc of California Stadium in L.A. In a video, Offset also apologized to Cardi, saying, “I only got one birthday wish and that’s to get my wife back Cardi. We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy.”
Offset acknowledged his behavior, saying, “I was partaking in activity that I shouldn’t have been partaking in, and I apologize. You know what I’m saying? For breaking your heart, for breaking our promise, for breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed up husband. I’m trying to be a better person. I want to get this off my shoulders. I want to get this off my back. I apologize to you Cardi. I love you.”
The pair reconciled in early 2019. She told “Extra” over Super Bowl weekend, “We’re working things out… work in progress.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’s ‘100% sure’ he will never box professionally again
(CNN) — Since retiring from professional boxing with an unmatched 50-0 record, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has turned his attention to promoting and mentoring the next generation of fighters.
Despite still being deeply involved in the sport on a daily basis, Mayweather says there is no temptation for him to come out of retirement.
“As of right now, I’m doing exhibitions,” Mayweather told CNN en Español’s Raul Saenz. “I’m 100% sure that I’m not fighting against any boxer anymore. So, that’s out of the question. I mean, just my faculties mean a lot to me. Money don’t make me, I make money and my health is more important than money.
“As far as me doing exhibitions and me fighting MMA guys, will I do that in a box ring? Absolutely.”
Considered one of the sport’s all-time greats, Forbes estimates Mayweather’s fight against Conor McGregor in Las Vegas in 2017 generated more than $550 million in revenue. Mayweather earned a reported $275 million, a sum generated both from his roles as fighter and also promoter.
Outside of the boxing ring, Mayweather was arrested in September 2010 after authorities said he punched Josie Harris — the mother of three of his children at his Las Vegas home — where she was living with his two young sons and a daughter.
The fighter pleaded guilty 14 months later to a reduced charge of misdemeanor battery and two counts of harassment.
‘The real atmosphere’
Mayweather was speaking to CNNEE ahead of one his fighters Gervonta “Tank” Davis, who boasts a so far unbeaten 23-0 record, taking on Leo Santa Cruz this Saturday in San Antonio, Texas.
While most sporting events around the world have been played without fans in attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic, this weekend’s bout has been moved from what would have been an empty Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut to Texas’ Alamodome, where around 10,000 fans are expected.
The NBA was widely praised for the success of its Disney World bubble, during which just two cases of Covid-19 were recorded, but Mayweather believes one of the crucial elements that most impacts sport at the highest level was missing.
“I’m happy we were able to move this to San Antonio so we can have the crowd, the real atmosphere,” Mayweather said. “Because when I be looking at boxing and there’s no crowd, I feel like I’m watching sparring boxing in a boxing gym. When there’s a crowd, there’s a different outcome.
“It’s no different from basketball. Congratulations to the Lakers, but it was like they were [playing] pickup ball because it was in a gym. But even if they were playing pick up, they are pickup champions. But I like it better with a crowd, because the crowd can shape things up a little bit.
“The crowd … if it’s on a basketball [court] or if it’s in an arena as far as with boxing … the crowd can shape things up and I like to see things up shook up a little, it’s a little bit better. So you’ve gotta deal with pressure when you’re on an elite stage.”
Davis, still only 25, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and explosive fighters in the lower weight divisions. In Santa Cruz, a four-division champion, he faces by some distance his most accomplished opponent to date.
Davis has moved down a weight class to fight Santa Cruz for his WBA super featherweight title, though Davis’ WBA lightweight title will also be on the line.
Being a smaller boxer mentored by Mayweather has naturally put additional pressure and expectations on Davis’ shoulders. However, Mayweather believes it’s time for both of these fighters to create their own legacy.
“Anything I [do] now, my money is guaranteed because my name is engraved in stone,” he said. “I’ve proven myself for over twenty years of what I can do, and the numbers I can do on pay per view as well as streaming, so I’ve showed what I can do.
“Now it’s time for these young fighters to go out there on Halloween and show what they can do and I’m pretty sure Leo is in tip top shape, because Tank is in tip top shape and they need to go out there and do what they do .
“They are gonna have a crowd and we want the crowd to shake some things up to see what these guys can do under pressure.”

Noose displayed at Missouri poll covered up amid complaints of voter intimidation
GALENA, Mo. (AP) — A replica hangman’s noose on display near voting booths in a southwest Missouri county building has been covered up following complaints from Democrats that it amounted to intimidation of Black voters.
The Missouri Democratic Party released a photo Friday of the display with several voting booths nearby in a hallway of the Stone County building in downtown Galena about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Branson, The Kansas City Star reported. The noose was hanging in the corner of a display cabinet next to photos.
Stone County Clerk Cindy Elmore said the display was put up several years ago and “has nothing to do with the election office.” She said it was a historical exhibit with a replica noose marking the last legal execution by hanging in the state, which occurred in Stone County in 1937.
Elmore said the noose was covered up Friday morning.
Clem Smith, the acting chair of the Missouri Democratic Party, said the noose’s display next to voting booths amounted to intimidation of Black voters. Smith said in a statement that this “symbol’s purpose is to stoke the fires of racial prejudice and strike fear in the hearts of people of color.”

Dad recalls terrifying moment daughter, 8, was shot while trick-or-treating
The eight-year-old bystander shot in the leg while trick-or-treating in Harlem on Halloween is in good spirits but a lot of pain, according to her father, who recounted the harrowing moment to The Post on Sunday.
“We were walking to meet my wife at the CVS. I then see a guy with a look on his face and he pulls back his jacket and I see his gun,” recalled the father, who asked that his name be withheld.
“I hear shots. I pushed my youngest out of the way and then grab her but she’s yelling, ‘My leg!’”
The dad — who was hit in the arm — ran into the street with his daughter and hopped into an empty, off-duty taxicab, whose driver took them to a nearby hospital, he said.
“On Halloween a kid trick-or-treating can’t be safe in New York? How crazy is that?” he said.
The 39-year-old Harlemite said his 8-year-old dressed up as a “space girl,” while his younger daughter had gone as Elsa from “Frozen.”
“Halloween didn’t seem to be in the cards this year but the kids begged me to go trick-and-treating,” said the dad.
Police said the father-daughter pair and a third bystander got caught in the middle of a verbal dispute between two men in their twenties, which escalated into gunfire.
Neither gunman has been apprehended. Police said one of the men was last seen wearing a green and black jacket.
The young victim’s father said the girl’s shin bone was shattered — and doctors have yet to determine how much rehabilitation or surgery she’ll need.
The city has grappled with a surge in gun violence over the past several months.
“Before this I was against gun violence like everyone, but now I’m like this has to stop,” the dad told The Post.
“I mean, how this guy miss who he’s shooting at and hits us. It’s crazy!” he said.

Shocking video captures cop body-slamming woman in handcuffs
Shocking video has emerged of a Canadian cop body-slamming a woman in a judo-like move that sent her face-first onto the floor at a Calgary police station — and landing the officer in court on an assault charge, according to reports.
The footage released in court this week shows Constable Alex Dunn escorting the suspect, Dalia Kafi, to have her mug shot taken in December 2017, Global News reported.
She is seen standing against a wall with her hands cuffed behind her back as Dunn tries to remove her scarf, prompting her to move away as she tries to prevent him from pulling it off.
Suddenly, the officer whips the suspect onto the floor before another cop arrives and lifts her up. Blood is clearly seen at the spot where she hit her head. Kafi, who was 26 at the time, suffered a broken nose, which required surgery, and a split lip, which needed stitches.
Dunn was suspended with pay after being charged in 2019 with assault causing bodily harm — but has since returned to work in an administrative role, according to the report.
“Due to court delays related to COVID-19, Const. Dunn’s duty status was revisited and updated such that he returned to work restricted to non-operational functions while awaiting disposition on this charge,” police told Global News in a statement.
The 34-year-old officer testified this week that Kafi had slipped out of her handcuffs and that he didn’t mean to slam her onto the floor, CBC News reported.
“Her hand had come up and wrapped around my hand,” he said. “I immediately said to her, and excuse my language, your honor, ‘What the f—, you’re supposed to be in handcuffs.’”
The handcuff on her right hand had actually slid up toward her elbow so even though her arms were attached to each other, Dunn testified that she managed to reach up to her left shoulder and grab his hand.
He said he felt the need to do a “dynamic takedown” on her to regain control, fearing she could use the cuffs as a “swinging hook weapon.”
Dunn had arrested Kafi for breaching a court-imposed curfew and obstruction of justice after she allegedly provided a fake name when the vehicle she’d been traveling in was pulled over by police.
The officer’s testimony “does not reconcile with reality,” prosecutor Ryan Pollard argue in court, according to CBC News.
Dunn’s account of what happened “defies physics, it defies anatomy, it does not reconcile with reality,” he said.
“There is no contortion or movement that would even begin to allow for that possibility,” he added. “None of this happened, it couldn’t have happened.”
Pollard told the judge that one witness, a senior officer with 30 years’ policing experience, said he saw no reason for the cop’s “judo-style throw.”

Syracuse school staffers put on leave for wearing ‘No Lives Matter’ shirts
Two Syracuse school employees were placed on leave after a photo showed them wearing “No Lives Matter” shirts as Halloween costumes, the district said.
The t-shirts worn by two unidentified female employees said “No Lives Matter” and had images underneath of two horror movie villains, “Friday the 13th” killer Jason Voorhees and “Halloween” masked murderer Michael Myers, Syracuse.com reported.
A photo of the costumes circulated on social media and showed the women in what appeared to be a classroom, CNY Central reported.
In a statement, Syracuse City School District said Saturday the staffers were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the human resources department.
“We believe Black Lives Matter in the Syracuse City School District,” the district said. “The ‘costumes’ are racist, insulting and offensive and not consistent with our core beliefs and values. We hold our employees to a higher standard and expect them to model appropriate behavior for our students.”

Harvey Weinstein slapped with federal lawsuit by accuser
Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been slapped with a federal lawsuit by his accuser, Mimi Haleyi on Friday.
The former Project Runway production assistant filed new court documents and described how Weinstein used “his wealth, power and influence to pull her into his orbit.”
Restating her stance from her testimony in the sexual assault trial against him—which helped put the rapist behind bars—Haleyi said she was lured into his apartment by him in 2006 and was sexually assaulted.
Her lawyers wrote in the filing: “Ms. Haley lived with the horror, humiliation and pain that this assault caused for years.”
Haleyi recalls meeting him again weeks later as she was in desperate need of work and “he was an extremely useful industry connection.”
Weinstein is currently serving his 23-year prison sentence since he was convicted of first-degree criminal sex act earlier this year.
