Three arrested in murder of Tennessee girl killed in her sleep by stray bullet
Three men have been charged in the murder of a 10-year-old Tennessee girl who was killed by a stray bullet in her sleep.
Lillyhanna Davis was laying on a couch in her home near Elizabethton at around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 17 when a bullet from a drive by shooting passed through the wall and struck her in the head, the Johnson City Press reported.
The young girl was taken to a local hospital where she died.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that three men had been arrested in connection with Lillyhanna’s killing.
Jason Bryan Barber, 18, Jediah Shane Glover, and Zachary Scott Scalf, both 20, were arrested last week for first degree murder, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, and other charges.
Mary Davis said her daughter Lillyhanna didn’t deserve to die at such a young age.
“I heard my husband hollering for her and we ran in there and my baby was gone,” the distraught mother told WJLH. “You don’t ever want to wake up to your baby and all you see is blood.”
Davis described her daughter as a good student who loved playing with her brothers and helping with chores around the house.
“Whoever did this, they took my baby’s life,” she told the outlet. “They took my heart away.”
Local reports say the drive by was revenge for another shooting that occurred on Oct. 31.
The three men are each being held on $900,000 bond.
