Woman gives waitress $5,000 tip has been arrested, as deputies say she used a credit card in her boyfriend’s name to get back at him for not buying her a plane ticket to New York
Serina Wolfe, 24, of Buffalo, N.Y., was in the news a few days ago when she left a $5,000 tip for a server grieving the loss of her dog in Pinellas County, but now we have the rest of the story.
According to an arrest affidavit, Wolfe made a purchase using a credit card in her boyfriend’s name. He said they were in an argument because he wouldn’t buy her a plane ticket home to New York.
Deputies say he initially put a hold on the card so she couldn’t buy a plane ticket, but once he lifted the hold she gave the $5k tip.
Wolfe denied making the purchase. Then her boyfriend reported the charge to his credit card company as fraudulent, saying he believes she was drunk or trying to get back at him.
Clear Sky Cafe, where the tip was given, was notified the purchase was fraudulent on Monday, and they had already paid out their waitress for the amount of $5,000 for the tip and $55.37 for the food.
Wolfe voluntarily handed over the card she used to deputies and was arrested for grand theft.
It is unclear at this time whether or not the server will get to keep the money.

In light of #MeToo, Disney quietly deleted a “blooper” scene from the latest release of Toy Story 2
Article via AVClub
It looks like Disney is reevaluating some of its earlier work to better fit the current climate—one that hopefully finds creepy behavior less amusing and more…well, fucking creepy. One such moment took place in Toy Story 2‘s faux blooper reel. The scene begins at 3:29 where Stinky Pete, the antagonistic prospector voiced by Kelsey Grammer, is seen in a box with twin Barbie dolls. Pete is speaking rather lecherously, asking them if they are “absolutely twins,” and suggestively flexing his ability to get them parts in the next Toy Story sequel while grabbing one of their hands. As soon as he realizes he’s being filmed, his demeanor changes entirely and he quickly escorts them out of his box. As quick as it is, Disney is now realizing that the implications of the clip are not worth the potential laughs and removing it entirely from future DVD and digital copies.
It’s a familiar casting couch scenario and a common trope that has often been used to denote a character’s creepiness. But with the parade of stories of harassment and abuse at the hands of many men in the industry—including Pixar’s co-founder and former head John Lasseter, the scene is just a gross reminder of behavior that has been excused and overlooked for decades. It’s also an example of how the public is socialized to downplay this kind of interaction from a young age. Hopefully this is a sign of more thoughtful writing to come, which would spare them secret editing sessions in the future.

Nike pulls sneaker with early version of American flag after Colin Kaepernick says it’s offensive
Nike is canceling a sneaker that featured a version of the American flag from the late 18th century.
“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American flag,” Nike said in a statement to CNN Business.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that the athletic-wear company delivered the sneakers to retailers, but asked stores to return them to Nike after the company received a complaint from former NFL star Colin Kaepernick. The Journal indicated Kaepernick said he and others found the shoe offensive.
Kaepernick could not be reached for comment Monday evening.
The shoe was set to be released Monday for $140, according to Sneakernews.com. The website included photos of a shoe that featured a version of the American flag with 13 stars organized in a circle and 13 stripes. That version of the flag, according to the Smithsonian, was used in the United States from 1777 to 1795.
It is unclear if any of the shoes were sold.
This is the second instance of Nike removing a product in recent days. The company stopped selling some products in China after a fashion designer’s support for protests in Hong Kong sparked a social media backlash.
Nike said in a statement at the time that it had decided to remove some of its goods “based on feedback from Chinese consumers.”
In May, according to footwearnews.com, Nike canceled an Air Force 1 sneaker after an indigenous group in Panama objected to its design.

Blue Bell responds to viral video of woman licking ice cream, returning it to freezer
Ice cream company Blue Bell Creameries is working with law enforcement to track down a woman seen in a now-viral video.
The video appears to show a woman opening a 64-ounce ice cream container at a grocery store, licking it and putting it back on the shelf.
Blue Bell issued a statement on its website thanking consumers for alerting them, adding:
We take this issue very seriously and are currently working with law enforcement, retail partners and social media platforms. This type of incident will not be tolerated.
Some online criticized the company for not better sealing their ice cream containers. The company responded saying the ice cream freezes to the lid creating a natural seal and any attempt to open the containers should be noticeable.
Here is the full statement from Blue Bell:
We want to thank our consumers for alerting us to the incident this past weekend of a video posted to social media showing a Blue Bell item being tampered with. We take this issue very seriously and are currently working with law enforcement, retail partners and social media platforms. This type of incident will not be tolerated.
Food safety is a top priority, and we work hard to provide a safe product and maintain the highest level of confidence from our consumers.
During production, our half gallons are flipped upside down and sent to a hardening room where the ice cream freezes to the lid creating a natural seal. The lids are frozen tightly to the carton. Any attempt at opening the product should be noticeable.
We will continue to monitor this situation.

2-year-old girl eaten alive by crocodiles after falling into pit
A 2-year-old girl was eaten alive after falling into a pit of crocodiles on her family farm, say police in Cambodia.
Rom Roath Neary’s mother is said to have lost sight of her while she was busy caring for her newborn baby.
The youngster reportedly wandered away from the house near Siem Reap yesterday morning and was not seen alive again.
The girl’s father Min Min, 35, returned home at 10 a.m. and began looking for the missing toddler.
Horrifically, he found his daughter’s skull stripped of flesh on the ground of a concrete enclosure where the crocs swim in a pool.
Local media showed harrowing pictures of mom of three Nay Is, 32, breaking down in tears as she clutched the toddler’s remains to her chest.
Police Chief Capt. Chem Chamnan said: “Her father found only her skull in the crocodile enclosure, where she was killed by crocodiles.”
Officers said that the youngster had been at home with her mother, who had recently given birth and was caring for the newborn.
She left the house and went to play on the land around the crocodile farm, which is behind the property.
Police said the family had recently built a fence around the 10-foot-high concrete pool, but children were still small enough to fit through the gaps.
Lt. Och Sophen, chief of Siem Reap commune police, said the mother “lost sight of” 2-year-old Rom.
He added: “When the father came back home, he couldn’t find his daughter in the house. He found a skull in the crocodile enclosure.
“He confirmed that the daughter fell into the crocodile enclosure and that the crocodiles killed her, leaving only her skull.”
Officers urged other families to take extra care to prevent children from getting into crocodile farms.
The animals are kept to produce leather and meat.

McDonald’s manager says woman attacked him with stun gun over drive-thru wait
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A Tennessee woman is accused of using a stun gun on a McDonald’s manager and trying to drag him out of the restaurant’s drive-thru window Sunday.
Brownsville police have arrested Marquenta Glidwell in the caught-on-video altercation; she faces a charge of aggravated assault.
The 19-year-old employee, Jacob Jordan, told WREG the attack left him with both physical and emotional scars.
“She grabs me by my hair, pulls me out of the window,” Jacob Jordan said. “That’s when she has the taser, trying to go for my throat, punching me in my face, punching me in my eyes. Just beating me.”
Jordan, an overnight manager, said two customers were upset about how long it took to fill their order. Jordan said they wouldn’t stop blowing their car horn.
“I said, ‘Hey, I’m the manager, and you’re disrespecting me and the customers behind you by laying on the horn. We can refuse to serve you because you’re being disruptive,'” Jordan said.
Jordan said that’s when Marquenta Glidwell got out of the car and approached the drive-thru window.
He said Glidwell hit him with her credit card and used a stun gun, leaving a nasty looking mark on his neck.
“At first we thought it was just scratch marks from her fingers until you look at the video, and you can clearly see her trying to jam the taser into my throat,” Jordan said.
He said the whole time, she was threatening to kill him.
“Saying that because I voted for Trump I deserved this,” Jordan said. “I wasn’t even old enough to vote when he ran.”
Jacob, who said he’s gay, was shocked to hear the woman call him several insulting things.
“Honestly, I believe she was just trying to hurt me emotionally and physically,” he said. “It was really hurtful.”
Glidwell was arrested by Brownsville Police a short time after the alleged assault.
Jacob’s mother would like to see more serious charges.
“She needs to be charged with a hate crime because she hated my son for the color of his skin and his sexuality,” mother Jessica Garland said. “That’s hate, and that’s a hate crime to me.”
Jacob said he’ll return to work at McDonald’s because he needs the job so he can go to college. But he knows working the drive-thru will never be quite the same again.
Glidwell is in jail on a $10,000 bond. Her next court appearance is July 30.

A black hospital patient went on a walk with an IV drip. Police arrested him on suspicion of stealing medial equipment – says he was racially profiled
A black man says he was racially profiled by white police officers while he was being treated at an Illinois hospital and went for a walk hooked up to an IV drip.
Police arrested Shaquille Dukes, 24, on suspicion of stealing the medical equipment, after a security guard called them.
The Freeport Police Department confirmed Sunday in a statement that Dukes filed a complaint “alleging unfair and biased conduct by responding officers.” The department said it has retained an outside, third-party investigator to “gather the facts, interview all parties involved, and determine whether officers conducted themselves in adherence to department policies and guidelines.”
Dukes wrote on Facebook that he was on vacation in Freeport, about 100 miles west of Chicago, when he came down with double pneumonia and went to the hospital. He told CNN he was admitted to FHN Memorial Hospital for two days.
On the morning of the second day, June 9, he said he was feeling better and asked doctors if he could go for a walk. He went outside with his boyfriend and his brother, still wearing his hospital gown and pushing a steroid and antibiotic IV drip.
As they went outside, Dukes said a security guard called them over to his car and asked if they were trying to “leave the hospital and sell the IV equipment on eBay.”
“I was livid, I was irate,” Dukes said. “The first thing he said to me wasn’t, ‘What’s your name? Can I help you?’ but ‘Are you stealing this?’” Dukes said his boyfriend began recording the encounter, as Dukes was trying to explain to the security guard that they were on a walk.
That’s when the security guard called for police backup, Dukes told CNN. He said the guard told police, “I have three black males attempting to steal medical equipment from the hospital.”
Police arrested all three men, charging them with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Two of the men were also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest, according to a Freeportpolice press release issued June 17.
Dukes told CNN that before his arrest, police officers took his emergency inhaler and his IV was removed, though not by a doctor. Police said in a June 18 statement that the IV was removed by FHN medical personnel.
Taken back to hospital — in handcuffs
While officers were taking him to the police department, Dukes said he suffered an asthma attack. He alleges the officers withheld his asthma inhaler from him until they arrived.
Dukes said he was kept in the back of the police car until paramedics arrived. He told CNN he was then transported back to the hospital, this time in handcuffs.
The police department has appointed an independent investigator to look at the case, Freeport police spokesman Dave Bayliss told CNN.
Bayliss identified the investigator as Mitch Davis, who has served as police chief for 18 years in Hazel Crest, Illinois, a suburb south of Chicago. Davis, who is black, is also a member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
Dukes said he believes the incident should prompt additional sensitivity training for both police and FHN staff.
The hospital declined to comment, citing patient confidentiality, and said it was cooperating with the police investigation.
