NY woman was taking photo of ‘For Rent’ sign with cell phone when she ran over 2 kids
GATES, N.Y. — Police say an upstate New York woman accused of running over two toddlers was taking pictures with her phone at the time of the accident.
Authorities charged 29-year-old Letoya Palmo of Gates with two counts of assault and reckless endangerment.
A 2-year-old and a 10-month-old were being pulled in a wagon by their father when they were hit Thursday. They were critically injured.
Palmo initially said she was distracted by her two sons in the back seat. But Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode says forensic analysis of the suspect’s cell phone shows she was using it to capture a “for rent” sign.
Palmo sobbed and said she was sorry as she was arraigned Tuesday. She was sent to Monroe County Jail on $10,000 bail.
A call for comment was made to her lawyer.

FL dad accused of throwing 5-year-old son into Atlantic ocean, yelling at him to swim
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A Florida father faces multiple charges after police say he repeatedly tossed his 5-year-old son into the ocean along Daytona Beach and yelled at him to swim.
Court records show police arrested 37-year-old John Bloodsworth for disorderly intoxication, jumping off the pier and child abuse.
Former Georgia State Trooper Mitch Brown told WESH he was on vacation with his family when he saw the child alone, struggling to swim in deep water next to the Main Street Pier Monday night.
Brown said he and his family were eating dinner when they noticed Bloodsworth jumping off the pier and swimming past the boy, who he would throw back into the waves while telling him to swim.
Brown said the boy was “visibly upset and crying.”
“I said, ‘I can’t take this no more,’” Brown said. “So I went down to the pier, down to the shore and confronted him myself.”
The former trooper held Bloodsworth and turned him in to Daytona Beach police, WESH reports.
Bloodsworth reportedly told the arresting officers he was “going to jail for being awesome.”
He was released from the Volusia County Jail Tuesday after posting bond, online records show.

Eric Garner’s family demands justice as officer won’t face federal charges in chokehold death
NEW YORK — Five years ago, Eric Garner uttered his last words, “I can’t breathe” during a confrontation with the NYPD.
Officers were attempting to arrest Garner on charges he sold loose, untaxed cigarettes outside a Staten Island convenience store. He refused to be handcuffed, and officers took him down.
Garner is heard on bystander video crying out “I can’t breathe” at least 11 times before he falls unconscious. He later died.
“I can’t breathe” became a rallying cry for police reform activists, coming amid a stretch of other deaths of black men at the hands of white officers. Garner was black; Pantaleo is white. Protests erupted around the country, and police reform became a national discussion.
One day before his death anniversary, the Justice Department made the decision not to pursue federal charges against Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the 2014 chokehold death.
Gwen Carr, Garner’s mother, told PIX11 the decision was “disappointing” and “to add insult to injury, they waited until the day before his death anniversary to say this.”
A state grand jury had also refused to indict the officer on criminal charges.
Carr also hopes NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill will “do the right thing” and fire Pantaleo.
“All the other administrations have failed my son and the Garner family,” she said.
On Garner’s death anniversary, his mother and Arc of Justice’s Kirsten John Foy said there will be 11 days of protests and unrest, symbolizing the 11 times Garner said he couldn’t breathe.
“It’s going to be uncomfortable,” Foy said.
“They need to be made just as uncomfortable as the Garner family has been.”

Man caught with $34K worth of cocaine under his wig
A Colombian man had a very bad hair day when Spanish police at Barcelona’s international airport discovered a half-kilo (1.1 pounds) of cocaine under his wig, according to reports.
The “considerably nervous” man, who arrived on a flight from Bogotá at the end of June, attracted officers’ attention because his hairpiece was of “disproportionate size,” authorities said Tuesday.
In what police have dubbed “Operation Toupee,” the officers found a “perfectly sealed package taped to his head” containing about $34,000 worth of coke.
“There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls,” police said in a statement, which included a photo of the middle-aged man, who was still wearing the bulging wig.
Spain is an important European gateway to Colombian cocaine — with hauls from drug busts often running into tons.
But passengers acting as mules are frequently caught trying to smuggle relatively small amounts of the drug through the country’s airports, including Barcelona’s El Prat airport.
On one occasion, when officers in Barcelona discovered a package of drugs strapped to a Colombian man’s abdomen, he confessed that he had also swallowed 35 condoms filled with the drug.
Spain is the European Union’s sixth-biggest consumer of cocaine. The UK tops the list, followed by the Netherlands, Denmark, France and Ireland, according to the UK’s Guardian.
This is not the first time people have used wigs for such a purpose.
Four years ago, a woman was arrested at Madrid’s airport with 900 grams (31 ounces) of cocaine sewn into her wig, the news site reported.
In recent years, authorities also have found cocaine inside breast implants, hollowed-out pineapples, a wheelchair cushion, a plaster cast on a man’s leg and a 42-piece crockery set, according to Agence France-Presse.

Florida man allegedly cut off the penis of his wife’s lover with scissors
A Florida man allegedly used a pair of scissors to cut off his wife’s lover’s penis, according to a report.
Alex Bonilla, 49, is accused of committing the heinous act on the man — who is his neighbor — while the victim’s two kids were home last Sunday outside of Gainesville, according to a police report obtained by NBC NEWS.
The victim told police that Bonilla attacked him at gunpoint, threatening to kill him if he resisted, the report said.
Once inside the neighbor’s bedroom, Bonilla allegedly tied up the victim and attacked him. Bonilla then fled the house with the man’s detached penis.
Bonilla had caught his wife and neighbor having sex last May, according to the police report.
Cops charged Bonilla with aggravated assault, cruelty toward a child, and burglary.
It’s unclear if doctors were able to reattach the victim’s penis, the report said.

Disney heiress Abigail Disney says she was ‘livid’ about worker conditions at theme park after going undercover
Walt Disney Co. heiress Abigail Disney Opens a New Window. said “The Happiest Place on Earth” isn’t bringing joy to theme park employees.
Disney revealed to Yahoo! News’ “Through Her Eyes” Opens a New Window. that she recently went undercover to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and was left “livid” after seeing the conditions employees endured. The heiress said she decided to conduct her own investigation after a distressed worker contacted her on Facebook.
“Every single one of these people I talked to were saying, ‘I don’t know how I can maintain this face of joy and warmth when I have to go home and forage for food in other people’s garbage,’” she told Yahoo! News in an interview published Monday.
“I was so livid when I came out of there because, you know, my grandfather taught me to revere these people that take your tickets, that pour your soda,” Disney added. “Those people are much of the recipe for success.”
Disney, who does not have an active role in the company, then directed her criticism toward Bob Iger, saying the Disney CEO isn’t doing enough to help the company’s employees.
“Bob needs to understand he’s an employee, just the same as the people scrubbing gum off the sidewalk are employees,” the heiress said. “And they’re entitled to all the same dignity and human rights that he is.”
Disney’s comments came the same day Bloomberg Opens a New Window. reported the theme park was tracking guests through its smartphone apps and electronic wristband MagicBand. Theme park officials can then see which rides attendees prefer and what TV and film merchandise is flying off the shelves.
In April, Disney made headlines when she wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post slamming Iger for his $65.6 million salary. The CEO earned 1,424 times more than the median Disney employee last year, according to a study by Equilar. The company has faced criticism in recent years over its pay policies at Disneyland and other theme parks.
“The system is the problem, and the people inside of the system who are perfectly comfortable with the system are the problem,” the philanthropist and filmmaker said in Monday’s interview. “I don’t think any president of the United States has as much power as some CEOs in this country.”
A Disney spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News on Monday that the company, under Iger’s leadership, has made an initial commitment of $150 million to fund its Disney Aspire initiative for the first five years. The program, which Disney plans to continue investing in in the future, is aimed at providing employees the opportunity to pursue higher education.
“Disney is at the forefront of providing workforce education, which is widely recognized as the best way to create economic opportunity for employees and empower upward mobility,” the statement read. “Our Disney Aspire initiative is the most comprehensive employee education program in the country, covering 100 percent of all tuition costs, books and fees so our hourly workers can pursue higher education free of charge, and graduate free of debt.”
“Disney also provides flexible schedules and subsidized childcare to make it easier for employees to take advantage of this opportunity–and we’re proud that more than 40 percent of our 88,000-plus hourly employees have already signed up to participate,” the spokesperson added. “American workers need meaningful change; they deserve smart policies and practical programs, like Disney Aspire, that empower them to achieve their goals and ensure they are part of the most competitive workforce in the world.”
Abigail Disney joined more than a dozen billionaires last month urging lawmakers to raise their taxes Opens a New Window. . The billionaires penned a letter addressed to 2020 presidential candidates asking them to support “a moderate wealth tax” on billionaires to fund projects addressing issues such as clean energy, infrastructure and healthcare.
Disney said she signed the letter because she has “more than enough” money.
“And if you’ve got $1 billion, there’s not a thing on this earth you can’t afford,” Disney said.

Lauren London Says Son Will Inherit $1 Million from Nipsey Hussle Estate
Lauren London expects the son she shared with Nipsey Hussle to inherit a ton of cash from the late rapper’s estate, so she’s making sure he’s legally protected.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, London filed to establish guardianship of her 2-year-old son, Kross Asghedom.
London writes that Kross is “anticipated to inherit approximately One Million Dollars at the close of” Nipsey Hussle’s estate.
The actress writes that she is the person taking care of the minor child, and will look out for his “best interests” as he receives the lucrative inheritance from his deceased father.
She wants to be Kross’ guardian so that she can participate in legal matters involving Nipsey’s estate and probate, on the child’s behalf.
London also lists Nipsey’s 10-year-old daughter, Emani, as Kross’ relative.
As we reported, other members of Nipsey’s family have come forward with intentions of managing his estate, including his brother, Blacc Sam.
During his filing, Sam wrote that he intended to become the administrator of his brother’s estate and that he would help shepherd some of the lucrative deals that were in the work when the hip-hop star was gunned down in South L.A.
Tanisha Foster is also battling Nipsey’s family for guardianship of her daughter, Emani. Along with Tanisha, Nipsey’s sister, brother and mother have all filed documents intending to gain custodial rights for the young girl.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Nipsey’s immediate family members claim they have been a “constant and strong presence in Emani’s life. They have participated in her care and upbringing since her birth. Since the unfortunate murder of Emani’s father in March 2019, Samiel and Angelique have assisted in providing care for Emani.”

Jamie Foxx Thanks Chris Brown For Showing Love To His Sister With Down Syndrome
Chris Brown shared a special moment with Jamie Foxx’s younger sister, who has Down Syndrome while celebrating his latest number one album Indigo.
Foxx’s sister, 33-year-old DeOndra Dixon, was seen in a video posted to his Instagram Tuesday morning telling Chris Breezy “I love you.” Brown then leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. It looks as though Foxx, Chris Brown, and DeOndra were all in a studio session listening to Chris’s new project.
“Congratulations @chrisbrownofficial on your number 1 album INDIGO… #indigoseason,” the caption read on Jamie’s Instagram. “… you are beyond talented… and I salute uu… and thank u for the beautiful moments you share with my sister @deondradixon You lift her so high that the tears well up in her heart and mine… thank u #love #music when @chrisbrownofficial says “I love u” and @deondradixon says “I love uu back”…[cloud] 9.
Back in August, the comedian/actor/singer opened up about his sister’s condition in an interview with Dateline NBC. He said that DeOndra taught him how to live, and that helps to keep him grounded. DeOndra lives with the 50-year-old icon in LA.
This isn’t the first time the Grammy and Oscar winner was seen with Chris Brown. In June Chris posted a photo of the two superstars together with the caption “ME AND BIG BRO COOKING,” leaving fans to guess that Jamie Foxx would make an appearance on Indigo. However as it turns out, Jamie Foxx did not have a feature on the album.
The two R&B singers have previously collaborated in the past. Chris Brown was featured on Jamie Foxx’s single “You Changed Me” in 2015 and Jamie hopping on “Text Message,” a single that Chris dropped in 2017.
And with this recent showing off how close Chris is with Jamie’s family, it’s clear the two have a special bond.

So-called ‘ICE bae,’ a Latina border patrol officer, is taking social media by storm
A female Border Patrol officer has gone viral — with social media users dubbing the woman #IceBae — on account of her dolled-up appearance.
“Holy s–t…I think I’m coming down with a case of undocumentation,” wrote @VibeHi on Twitter, who was one of countless users to share the BPD agent’s photo on Monday, along with a video she posted.
“#IceBae could detain me for however long she wants,” another said.
The female officer was providing security for Vice President Mike Pence during his recent border visit when she was photographed standing outside of a holding cell.
A Twitter account purportedly belonging to the woman surfaced early Monday and identified her as Kiara Cervantes, of Texas. A video was posted later in the afternoon, claiming the page was authentic.
“Just woke up…saw that I needed to make a video so y’all could believe that it’s me,” said the woman purporting herself to be Cervantes. “It’s me — I’m a Customs officer based in Texas and yeah, I don’t know what else to say.”
The woman later posted a message, saying she was “in awe” by all the attention she was receiving — some of which has been very negative.
“This country is a mess, we are praising and trending #IceBae when she is literally a guard at a CONCENTRATION CAMP, guarding CHILDREN IN CAGES, RIPPING FAMILIES APART AT THE BORDER,” seethed one Twitter user. “You’re all sick, honestly.”
Another person said, “#IceBae is actively aiding in the internment of men, women, and children without trial or even so much as humane living conditions. She, along with every other officer going along with this is a traitor to the very ideas of justice and freedom.”
But Cervantes wasn’t paying any mind to her haters and instead focused on “the support” she’s been receiving.
“My job is so hectic at this moment but I am grateful,” she tweeted Monday night. “I love protecting my country! And I love my supporters!”
The purported BPD agent had been answering questions throughout the day from both fans and people outraged with her newfound fame.
Responding to a person who called her “litteral scum” and shamed her for being Hispanic — adding that her parents were going to “disown” her — Cervantes tweeted: “I think that’s really rude and naive of you to say. You have no idea who my parents are and no idea what goes into my job on a daily basis… before speaking on something you know nothing about…. DONT. Regardless I’m blessed and thankful for the career I have.”
Replying to a tweet from former Daily Caller editor and columnist Scott Greer — who called her a “Latina concentration camp guard” — Cervantes said: “I can’t agree with concentration camps. But… this station in particular isn’t meant to be a holding facility hence the overpopulation of aliens. We are doing our best but some people won’t ever understand. They don’t know the daily of what my job consists of.”
Upon creating her purported page, Cervantes told Twitter users that she takes “a lot of pride” in her job, which, according to her, can sometimes be “difficult.”
“Not only because I am Latina,” Cervantes explained, “but just in general the mass amount of people crossing ILLEGALLY daily and the processing can take a toll on anyone of any gender and any race.”
Some people were referring to the woman as a “latina hero.”
“Democrats hate seeing minorities that have escaped their ways of thinking,” claimed one Twitter user. “Thank You for your service.”
Cervantes responded to a request for comment on Monday night via email, but told The Post she couldn’t elaborate on her social media fame until after she “speaks to management with CBP.”
Requests for comment were not immediately returned by the US Customs and Border Protection agency.
