Oklahoma mother accused of beating children with electrical cord over bad grades
OKLAHOMA CITY – A mother was jailed on complaints of child abuse after she allegedly beat her teen daughter for bad grades and used an electrical cord to beat her younger daughter.
Police first learned of the alleged abuse when a school resource officer at Edmond Santa Fe High School saw a 16-year-old student with injuries on her face.
“She had swelling, redness, and some darkening around one of her eyes,” Oklahoma City police Master Sergeant Gary Knight said.
The teen told the school resource officer the injuries came from her mother, Tiara Riley, who punched her because of her grades.
“She said at least ten times about the head and face,” Knight said.
Soon allegations came to light involving some of Riley’s other children. Her 14-year-old daughter is allegedly also the victim of abuse.
According to the police report, Riley beat her “using a belt” and when the belt broke, she “retrieved an electrical cord.” She even allegedly said, “‘So you want to die,'” before she “[wrapped] the electrical cord around the victim’s neck and [pulled] upward.”
Police said Riley is know to have a bad temper and anger issues.
“This really wasn’t corporal punishment, this was beating a kid,” Knight said. “This was hitting a kid in the face multiple times and then possibly beating another with an electrical cord. That goes way past corporal punishment.”

#Mayochella: Professional Troll Swiftly Orchestrates Band to Get Into Gentrification
WHY?? DAMN Black folks can’t be great without some culture vulture troll trying to steal our wow shine. Who am I talking about? Taylor Swift. DAMN BE ORGINAL BITCH!! *in my Armon Wiggins voice*
Lift every voice and lip sync, ‘til you clap on the 1 and 3.
On the night of May 1st, also known as May Day, a young woman by the name of Taylor Swift decided to take a break from practicing her faux- “OMG I won another mainstream award” face in the mirror to gather a group of Beychella-tethered marching band members from the underground Historically Gentrified Colleges & Universities (HGCU) and wage war on the pure black joy of Coachella 2018 like the professional troll she is.
Her setting of choice? The 2019 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).
Naturally, everyone recognized a bizarre occurrence of deja vu and were not particularly keen on any substitutes.
Case in point:
Now, of course, one may say, hey Beyoncé didn’t invent marching band performances. That is a common misconception. If you turn your history books to page 4, you’ll see that in the year 44 B.B.C. (Before BeyChella), a BeyVenger found a tesseract known as the BeyHive Stone in the Coachella crypts. Beyoncian lore says that at the snap of a finger — on beat, mind you, unlike her copycat successor — King Beyoncé ruled that on April 21, 2018 the world would finally be ready for a proper wig-snatching.
“So let it be slayed, so let it be done,” the stanned King uttered to her kingdom, according to textbooks.
Black history, folks.
As urban legend would have it, the only way to summon this tesseract is to utter the phrase “Oohweebeebeefreakydeakythinkmeseeshepinkbikinirockthatkufidyethatshikinefertitiedgeskinky,” but you ain’t hear that from me.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to procure some hot sauce from Costco to wash out the mayo from everyone’s mouths.
Two years after being found guilty of child endangerment, this Iowa woman is trying to open a daycare
DES MOINES, Iowa – Over two years ago, Cindy Holt pleaded guilty to child endangerment causing bodily injury. Now the ex-daycare operator is trying to get back in business, and the mother whose child was hurt is trying to make sure it never happens again.
“I kinda thought I’m going to be able to go on with my life. I’m not going to have to deal with this. I haven’t heard about it in two years,” Emalie Cipale said. “Then it’s just a normal Sunday night, and it pops back up.”
Cipale said two years after the sentencing of her former daycare provider she was finally beginning to move on. In 2016 Cipale’s now three-year-old daughter, Harper, was found under the care of Cindy Holt with bite marks all over her body. Now, Cipale said those feelings she felt that day are all coming back.
“Every emotion from being angry to shocked to crying to instantly wanting to hold Harper,” Cipale said.
That’s what Cipale felt when she came to pick up her then 9-month-old daughter from daycare back in August 2016 and human bite marks all over her baby from another child Holt was watching. Holt said it happened while she was napping.
“They turn Harper around and Cindy says ‘I’m sorry’ and after that, I’ve been asked what was said, and I don’t remember because all I wanted was Harper and I wanted out,” Cipale said.
Cindy Holt pleaded guilty to child endangerment causing bodily injury, and her daughter Amanda Holt pleaded guilty to child endangerment.
“So I’m going out on a limb here, and going to give you you’re deferred judgement,” Judge Robert Hanson said on sentencing day in February 2017.
Instead of jail time, the deferred judgement involved a sentence of two years probation.
“But you know that does not come with no strings attached,” Hanson said.
Holt gave an emotional response.
“I want you to know that I do not plan on doing daycare again,” Holt said. “I do not want my family or any other family to go through this again.”
Two years later, with her probation complete, Holt is now posting her daycare openings in Altoona. She’s using multiple aliases but saying the same thing, stating she already has a small daycare with five children and is looking to expand.
“I just really hope she’s not still watching five kids,” Cipale said.
Cipale won’t ever forget what happened to her child, but other parents seeing the Facebook ads would have no idea. Holt’s records were expunged. The child endangerment charge no longer appears on the online court system.
“I hope and pray these parents have heard this, someone’s told them ‘hey you need to look at this. You need to read this. You need to know what’s going on,” Cipale said.
Cipale is making sure other parents know what’s going on, taking things into her own hands online.
“Does another child have to get hurt? Does another child have to be put in danger for this woman to finally be shut down?” Cipale asked.
Both Cipale and WHO reached out to DHS and have not heard back. WHO also reached out to Cindy and Amanda Holt and did not hear back.
WHO looked through the list of hundreds of in-home day cares in Polk County and could not find one under Cindy Holt’s name or aliases, but DHS does not require daycares to be registered if they have five or fewer children.
These posts first appeared Sunday, and her most recent attempt at an ad on Facebook was Wednesday afternoon.
Holt could be one of the 50,000 Iowans listed on the Child Abuse Registry list, but that is also not available for the public to view.

Man won’t go to prison after keeping teen girl in captivity for more than a year
A horrific case out of Georgia continues a recent pattern of men guilty of sex crimes walking away with little to no time in prison.
The Washington Post reports on the April 25 sentencing of Michael Wysolovski, 33, who pleaded guilty to first-degree cruelty to children caused by “excessive physical pain during sexual intercourse” and interstate interference with custody, after keeping a teen captive for over a year.
The girl first met Wysolovski when she was 15 in an online anorexia forum. In May 2016, when she turned 16, Georgia’s age of consent, she ran away from home to meet up and live with him, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Even though they initially engaged in a “consensual non-consensual” BDSM (bondage, domination, submission, masochism) relationship, it soon veered into the abusive, with Wysolovski forcing her into sex, keeping her in a dog cage, and limiting what she ate.
The girl was rescued at age 17 after contact with a woman online who then contacted authorities. When found, she was reportedly malnourished, suffering from ringworm, and plagued with back problems from the cage.
At the hearing, the victim said she has attempted suicide three times since her rescue.
WSOC reports that although he faced up to 25 years in prison, he instead received a 10-year sentence, with credit for eight months already served; the rest of his sentence will be spent on probation. Wysolovski’s attorney stipulated that any plea deal could not include prison time, and the victim and her family wanted to avoid a trial.
Wysolovski also has to register as a sex offender.
Gwinnett County Assistant DA Michael DeTardo told the court rape and aggravated sodomy charges had been mulled but were dropped as they would’ve been hard to prove.

Florida Passes Controversial Bill Allowing More Teachers to Arm Themselves
The Florida House passed a controversial school safety bill that would allow teachers to carry guns on campus.
The bill passed Wednesday, and is headed to the desk of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
It is based on recommendations made by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission after the Parkland massacre last year.
The bill expands on the measure signed last year that imposed new restrictions on firearm sales and allowed some teachers and staff to carry guns in school, CNN affiliate WFOR reported.
The measure headed to the governor’s desk allows school districts to opt-in to the program and is not a requirement for teachers or districts, CNN affiliate WFOR reported. Teachers from districts that choose to join the program will have to undergo police-style training, psychiatric evaluation and drug screening.
“Broward County School Board voted on a resolution against arming teachers in March 2018. We do not believe arming teachers is the best way to make our schools safe,” Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said in a statement.
Rep. Dane Eagle supported the bill and said it does not mean all teachers will have weapons at their disposal.
“There is no line where we are handing out guns to teachers that walk through a door,” Eagle said.

Elderly couple mistakenly sign for package, find $10M in meth inside
An elderly couple in Australia mistakenly signed for a package sent to the wrong address that contained $10 million worth of meth, according to a report.
The pair in the Melbourne suburb of Werribee quickly called police after the box holding 44 pounds of methylamphetamine wound up in their possession Wednesday afternoon, Nine News reported.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matthew Kershaw said the couple was “unsure” about the package that was delivered to them and “they asked each other if they ordered anything,” according to the news outlet.
Police ultimately seized the drug bundle and tracked down the suspect responsible — 21-year-old Zhiling Ma of Melbourne, according to Nine News.
“When you think about it, $10 million worth of drugs sent to the wrong address, that’s quite incredible to comprehend that someone could be that sloppy,” Kershaw said.
Investigators raided an address in the suburb of Bundoora tied to Ma and found an additional 44 pounds of meth, the report said.
Ma was charged with importing a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug, according to the news site.
He was remanded into police custody.

Harlem teacher accused of lewd conversations with 18 students
A former Harlem charter school teacher allegedly had lewd communications with at least 18 students, claiming he did it “to be the cool teacher,” according to prosecutors and court papers.
Jeffery Bryant, 25, was busted in March for asking a student for a threesome, sending two other girls sex videos and sexting a fourth teen.
But ADA Melanie Soberal said Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court that the charged conduct is just the tip of the iceberg.
“Since the defendant’s arrest, approximately 18 students have reported receiving inappropriate communications from him, and we’re continuing to investigate that,” Soberal said.
Bryant — who was formerly a middle school history and music teacher at Democracy Prep Endurance — pleaded not guilty Wednesday to five counts of disseminating indecent material to minors and endangering the welfare of a child.
He’d only been at the school for seven months when he was fired in March for sending explicit photos and videos to students as young as 13.
In an interview with cops, he allegedly confessed and said, “I did it to be the cool teacher.”
He allegedly admitted, “I sent male and female pornography and twerking videos. I spoke to them about their personal lives and relationships and told them about my past sexual experiences.”
Defense lawyer Melanie Dearth asked Justice Curtis Farber to lower his bail from $50,000 bond to $10,000.
But Soberal successfully countered that Bryant is unemployed, no longer lives with his wife and is a flight risk.
DA Cy Vance Jr. released a statement urging other victims to come forward.
“As alleged, Jeffery Bryant took advantage of his position as a middle school history teacher to send graphic videos and messages to children in his care,” Vance said. “If you or someone you know has been a victim of abuse, I urge you to call our Child Abuse Unit at 212-335-4308.”
