Stockton Special Education Teacher Sentenced to Life in Prison for Incest, Sexually Abusing Children including his own children
A Stockton special education teacher has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing minors, including his own children, for nearly 20 years.
Rodney Flucas, 50, was given a life sentence Tuesday for transporting minors with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. Flucas also was sentenced to 10 years for transporting his daughter across state lines to engage in incest and 20 years for attempted witness tampering, according to a news release by the U.S. attorney’s office.
Flucas abused four of his daughters, a son and two other young women, beginning when they were minors, and faced allegations that he impregnated two of his daughters and one of his daughter’s friends, court documents show. DNA tests confirmed that he is the father of 10 children born to his victims, including three children born to one of his daughters, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
The abuse began in 2000, when Flucas lived with his family in Valdosta, Ga., according to evidence presented at trial. There, he owned or rented at least four houses on the same street where his wife, ex-wife, other partners and several children lived.
He moved his family to Americus, Ga., in 2014, after the grandmother of four of Flucas’ children made allegations leading to an investigation by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, according to the news release.
In September 2014, Flucas moved his family to Klamath Falls, Ore., where he began sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl who became friends with his daughter, according to court records. The girl moved into Flucas’ home and became pregnant, as did one of Flucas’ adult daughters for the third time.
Flucas and his family, including his daughter’s friend, then moved to Stockton in 2015, where he got a job as a teacher for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Prosecutors said he tried to hide the abuse by undermining the credibility of his victims and ordering them to lie to child protection authorities and police.
The family’s mantra was: “What happens in the family, stays in the family,” according to the news release.
The abuse was discovered in 2017, when one of Flucas’ teenage daughters drove into a lamp post in the hope that her death would lead officials to discover her father’s abuse, records show. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she told authorities about the abuse, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Before the crash, Flucas searched online for the conversion rate of the U.S. dollar to the Mexican peso as well as places to move, including China, Kenya, Ethiopia and Canada, according to evidence presented at his trial.
Prosecutors said the man told two of his victims that he would take them to a place where he believed incest was legal in order to continue the abuse, including New Jersey, Rhode Island and Switzerland.

Article via DailyMail
- Latest Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo has killed over 500
- Officials said a vaccination programme has prevented thousands more deaths
- There are claims that some individuals have been demanding sexual favours in return for treatment for the deadly disease
Women are being forced to have sex in return for Ebola vaccinations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it has been claimed.
Fears of exploitation by frontline workers in the fight against the deadly disease were also highlighted as the death toll from the latest outbreak in the country passed 500.
The claims surfaced just days after the DRC’s health minister said a vaccination programme has prevented thousands more deaths.
According to The Guardian, studies have revealed concerns by ‘multiple respondents’ that some people are asking for sexual favours in return for Ebola treatments – including vaccinations.
The matter was raised as officials gathered for a national taskforce meeting in the city of Beni.
They were told how research by NGOs had found there was widespread mistrust in health workers in DRC.
On Saturday, officials revealed that more than 500 people had died from the latest outbreak of Ebola in the country, but a vaccination programme had prevented thousands more deaths.
‘In total, there have been 502 deaths and 271 people cured,’ said a health ministry bulletin, reporting on the outbreak in the east of the country.

Another ‘Black-ish’ Spin-Off Could Be Coming To TV
Article via Essence
Get ready Black-ish fans. It looks like we’re going to go deeper into the world of one of its most popular characters on the show, Rainbow Johnson.
According to Deadline, ABC is thinking about producing a Black-ish prequel, which would focus on Rainbow’s (currently played by Tracee Ellis Ross) life. An upcoming episode will give fans a peek at Bow’s early life in the 1980s/1990s, and it could serve as a backdoor pilot to the new series.
ABC
So far, Black-ish has already spawned one spin-off: the popular Freeform comedy, Grown-ish. The show, which follows Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi) as she navigates her way through the ups and downs of college life, is a hit with fans, and was just renewed for a third season.
If a Black-ish prequel happens at ABC, Deadline speculates the show’s creator, Kenya Barris would likely be an executive producer, but he wouldn’t be involved in daily operations.
Last year, Barris left ABC to move over to Netflix where he’s been tapped to create even more “unapologetic” narratives.
Man charged with wife’s murder reportedly tells police, ‘I guess I don’t have to worry about a divorce now’
Article via YahooNews
A man charged with murdering his wife told police, “I guess I don’t have to worry about a divorce now,” according to the criminal complaint filed Monday.
The Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported that police said Matthew Lynn Jansen, 46, shot and killed his wife Mary Jo Jansen, 46, in their Blaine, Minn., home on Friday.
A criminal complaint from the Anoka County Attorney’s Office sent to Yahoo Lifestyle says Jansen admitted the crime to a 911 operator and that his gun was unloaded and in his home.
Officers found Mary Jo Jansen lying on the floor of her upstairs bedroom shot in the neck and chest, and located the handgun on the steps of the home. An empty gun case was also found in Jansen’s truck and a February receipt for the Smith & Wesson .44.
Relatives told police that Mary Jo had filed for divorce in November, but that the couple still lived together, although she planned to move out on Saturday. They also said there was an “incident” with firearms at the home in December. “Family members said they had removed firearms from the home and the defendant after an incident in December,” the complaint read.
Jansen is charged with second-degree murder and bail was set at $1 million. His court date is March 18.
Police said that while Jansen was being arrested, he told them, “I can’t believe I did it — I guess I don’t have to worry about a divorce now.”
