Stephen Colbert Starts Petition For Cardi B to Give State Of The Union Rebuttal
Article via Newsweek
Should President Donald Trump deliver a State of the Union address, late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert trumpeted his selection as to who he would like to see deliver the Democratic rebuttal.
Colbert tweeted Wednesday night he’s starting a petition to have New York rapper Cardi B refute the words of the commander-in-chief, who tweeted late Wednesday he’ll postpone State of the Union until after the partial government shutdown ends.
“I am starting a petition for the Democrats to let @iamcardib give the rebuttal to the SOTU,” Colbert tweeted. “Sign it by retweeting this!”
The tweet had garnered more than 24,000 likes and more than 13,000 retweets — or petition signers — four hours after Colbert’s initial post.
Cardi B, 26, has recently been embroiled in social media battles with conservative TV talk show hosts who either question her videos or political views.
Stephanie Hammill of Fox 5 in Washington, D.C., posted a Cardi B video clip with the question, “In the Era of #meToo how exactly does this empower women? Leftists, @iamcardib , feel free to chime in. THX ..”
Cardi B responded, saying: “It says to women that I can wear and not wear what ever I want. do w.e I want and that NO still means NO. So Stephanie chime in..If I twerk and be half naked does that mean I deserve to get raped and molested ? I want to know what a conservative woman like you thinks.”
Cardi B used Instagram to express her discontent about the partial government shutdown, saying the “country is in a hellhole now” over a proposed border wall.
“I just wanna remind you that it’s been a little bit over three weeks,” Cardi B said in the Instagram video. “Trump is now ordering … federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid. This s**t is really f***ing serious, bro. This s**t is crazy. Our country is in a hellhole now — all for a f**king wall.”
Conservative host Tomi Lahren questioned Cardi B by saying “Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats,” Lahren tweeted. “HA! Keep it up, guys! #MAGA2020”
Cardi B continued the squabble by saying she’d “dog walk” Lahren, which sent Twitter followers into a whirlwind.
“I’m sure you would,” Lahren fired back. “Still doesn’t make your political rambling any less moronic. #BuildthatWall”
“You’re so blinded with racism that you don’t even realize the decisions the president you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much,” Cardi B responded. “You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you still a SHEEP!”

Blac Chyna Says Her Children ‘Were Never in Any Danger’ After Police Visit Her Home Twice
Article via People
Blac Chyna is speaking out about the wellbeing of her children after police were called to her home earlier this week.
In a statement provided by her attorney Lisa Bloom, Chyna said her 6-year-old son King Cairo (with Tyga) and 2-year-old daughter Dream Renée (with Rob Kardashian) are doing fine.
“Chyna’s children, King Cairo and Dream Renée, are both healthy and doing very well. They were never in any danger and any reports to the contrary are entirely false,” the statement read. “I remind the public that anyone who submits a knowingly false report to Child Protective Services may be subject to criminal and civil liability.”
Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call about a disturbance at Chyna’s home, a public information officer confirmed to PEOPLE.
At about 6:40 p.m., cops arrived at the mother of two’s home but did not find any evidence of a crime, the police said. Due to the lack of a crime, the police do not release the names of those who were in the home at the time of the visit.
According to TMZ, the caller alleged that Chyna was drunk and unable to care for Dream.
Chyna allegedly got into a fight with one of her makeup artists earlier that day, which may have prompted the call. TMZ also reported that along with Chyna, a nanny was home at the time.
Police were then called again to Chyna’s home on Monday, PEOPLE confirmed. Officers responded to a call at around 2:30 p.m. regarding a civil standby, meaning they were there to “keep the peace,” LAPD told PEOPLE.
TMZ reported that officers arrived to prevent an additional dispute allegedly between Chyna and her makeup artist. The outlet reported the makeup artist showed up with police in order to retrieve some of her belongings from the night before.
Meanwhile, Kardashian’s family is encouraging him to remain focused on what’s most important: his daughter.
“They always knew that Chyna wasn’t good for Rob and they’re just trying to keep him focused on his family, and not on his ex,” a source told PEOPLE.
“They are aware of what she does, and they obviously are not happy to hear that she’s getting in fights or acting negatively,” the source added. (Chyna’s attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.)
Despite the former couple’s fractured relationship, the KarJenner family — helmed by matriarch and momager Kris Jenner — only wants what’s best for Rob and Dream.
“They mostly care about what’s in Dream’s best interest, and in Rob’s,” the source said.

Kenya Moore poses in a bikini two months post-baby
Article via PageSix
Kenya Moore is one hot mama.
While on a tropical vacation to celebrate her 48th birthday, the former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star took a quick break from the festivities to show off her bikini body.
The reality star posted a shot of herself cradling her 2-month-old baby, Brooklyn, while clad in a white string bikini and matching bottoms.
Moore kept the rest of her seaside look simple, accessorizing with just a small pair of gold hoop earrings and a “B” pendant in honor of her daughter.
Of course, the pageant girl is no stranger to rocking a swimsuit: In addition to winning the Miss USA competition in 1993, she also landed a spot in the top six at that year’s Miss Universe contest.
So really, it’s a natural return to form for the new mom.

Birdman Decides To Be Petty And Wrecks The Car He Gifted Toni
Article via Hiphopdx
Atlanta, GA – Toni Braxton had just finished performing at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on Wednesday (January 23) when Birdman crashed the party. According to The Blast, the Cash Money co-founder was spotted hanging out on the side of the stage, waiting to surprise his ex-fiancée.
Once she saw him, she reportedly greeted him with a long embrace. There’s no telling what happened once they left the venue, but it’s not a stretch to conclude they spent some more one-on-one time together.
The couple called off their engagement earlier this month shortly after Braxton had issued a frantic plea on Twitter confirming her engagement ring had been lost on a Delta flight.
The two were rumored to be already married, but Braxton consistently shot down the rumors. Last February, Birdman appeared on The Wendy Williams Show to address the chatter. During their conversation, he confirmed they weren’t married “yet.”
“That’s my girl, my friend, my family,” Birdman said. “That’s my love, my soldier, my life. She my everything … She my life. I love her to death.”
On New Year’s Day, Braxton hinted at their split with an Instagram post.
“Starting a new chapter isn’t always an easy choice…but ALWAYS choose to be chosen,” she wrote. “Cheers to a new year.”

Gas station clerk who shot patron he wrongly thought stole $1.10 worth of candy gets 9 years in prison
ST. LOUIS (AP) — A former gas station clerk in St. Louis has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison for shooting a customer he wrongly suspected of stealing candy.
Taleb Jawher was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court, where he pleaded guilty in May to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm. He is awaiting trial in state court on a first-degree murder charge.
Jawher was working at a Phillips 66 store on Sept. 26, 2017, when he accused 34-year-old Christopher Simmons, of trying to steal a $1.10 bag of candy.
Court documents say Jawher followed Simmons outside and was beating him on the head when his handgun discharged.
Immigration officials say Jawher, who is originally from Jordan, came to the U.S. legally but overstayed his visa.
Mom charged after infant drinks meth-laced breast milk
BANGOR, Maine — Police have charged a Maine mother after her 7-month-old child ingested methamphetamine through breast milk.
Authorities say 20-year-old Alyssa Murch, of Bangor, is facing charges of felony aggravated furnishing of a scheduled drug and endangering the welfare of a child.
Bangor Police Sgt. Wade Betters says officers responded to a hospital Dec. 16 after the baby was reported unconscious after ingesting the drug.
The child regained consciousness by the time police arrived and was being treated by medical staff. The child’s current condition has not been released.
Murch is due in court Feb. 20.
It is unclear if she has a lawyer, and The Associated Press was unable to find a working phone number for her.

Mother says 10-year-old son who killed himself was bullied over colostomy bag
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Kentucky mother says her 10-year-old son was bullied relentlessly at school before he took his own life over the weekend, according to WAVE.
Tami Charles said her son, Seven Bridges, was tormented over the colostomy bag he used after undergoing numerous surgeries that failed to completely repair a medical defect. Bullies reportedly targeted him over the smell from the device.
“Twenty-six surgeries from the day my son was born. Twenty-six surgeries,” Tami Charles told WHAS. “He just wanted to be normal, that’s all.”
Charles said she came home from the grocery store Saturday morning to find Seven Bridges dead of an apparent suicide.
She said the fifth grader loved to dress up as a super hero, but she always worried that his smile hid a deep sadness.
Tami and Donnie Charles told WDRB that they are considering legal action against Jefferson County Public Schools, saying that their son was routinely bullied at school and on the bus – including one instance when another student allegedly called Seven Bridges a racial slur and choked him until he nearly lost consciousness.
Communications Director Renee Murphy said the school district will conduct a “full investigation” into past complaints and added that “our hearts are breaking for this family.”
Charles said Seven Bridges was already signed up to change schools the next year.
“We would talk to him about having new friends and a new start,” she told WAVE. “He just had to get to the end of the year.”
A GoFundMe page has been created to help pay for the boy’s funeral.
School superintendent charged with fraud for using own insurance to help ill student
ELWOOD, Ind. – An Indiana school superintendent faces several charges after police say she sought medical treatment for a student using her son’s name.
Charges against Casey Smitherman include official misconduct, insurance fraud, insurance application fraud and identity deception.
According to court documents, a 15-year-old student didn’t come to school on Jan. 9 because he had a sore throat. Smitherman picked him up and took him to the med check in Elwood so a doctor could examine him. However, she allegedly signed the student in under her son’s name and also had a prescription for Amoxicillin filled at CVS under her son’s name.
The teen tore the name off the bottle’s label because he “knew it was wrong” and “to have a prescription in his possession with a different name is bad,” court documents said.
Police received a tip about the situation and followed up with the teen’s guardian on Jan. 16. A day later, Smitherman talked to Elwood police about the situation.
During her statement, she told police she realized the student wasn’t at school on Jan. 9 and was worried about him. In the past, she’s bought clothes for him and helped clean his house, according to court documents.
She said she didn’t contact the Department of Child Services because she feared the teen would be placed in foster care, the documents say. She admitted taking him to the med check and signing him in under her son’s name.
She also said she’d taken him to CVS to get a prescription, authorities say, and had the prescription filled under her son’s name. She dropped the boy off at home with the prescription and said she didn’t realize he’d torn the name off the bottle.
Medical records obtained by subpoena showed a prescription was filled under her son’s name on Jan. 9. The total claim was $233, according to court documents. Police contacted the Department of Child Services to advise them that “financial help may be needed” for the teen.
Smitherman issued this statement:
Recently, I was given notice one of our students was not at school. I went to his home to check on him, and he told me that he had not felt well enough to come to school. After making sure he had eaten, I could tell he had some of the symptoms of strep throat. As a parent, I know how serious this illness can be if left untreated, and I took him to an emergency clinic.
After one clinic refused to give the boy necessary treatment, I took him to a different clinic and told them he was my son. I knew he did not have insurance, and I wanted to do all I could to help him get well. I know this action was wrong. In the moment, my only concern was for this child’s health.
I have been charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor, and I have cooperated with authorities every step of the way. I turned myself in to the Elwood police this afternoon and was immediately released on bail. It is my understanding the prosecutor has agreed to a diversion program and that should be finalized yet this afternoon.
The Elwood community has been welcoming since I started this position, and I am so grateful for your support. I am committed to this community and our students, and I regret if this action has undermined your trust in me. From the beginning, my ultimate goal has been to provide the best environment for Elwood students’ growth physically, mentally and academically, and I remain focused on that purpose.
School board president Brent Kane has issued a statement of support below, for which I am also grateful. I am continuing to work with appropriate authorities as necessary and want to be transparent about my work with the Elwood community.
The Elwood school board issued this statement:
Dr. Smitherman has tirelessly worked for the best interests of all students in Elwood Community Schools since she was hired. She made an unfortunate mistake, but we understand that it was out of concern for this child’s welfare. We know she understands what she did was wrong, but she continues to have our support.
It is our understanding that the prosecutor has agreed to a diversion program and that will be finalized this afternoon
