Beyoncé urged to pull Ivy Park line from Topshop amid Philip Green allegations
‘Her brand is all about empowering women and marginalised communities’
Beyoncé is being pressured to withdraw from a commercial partnership with Sir Philip Green after the retail tycoon was accused of sexual harassment, bullying and racial abuse.
The singer’s sportswear line, Ivy Park, is sold at Topshop, one of the chains owned by the Arcadia Group, of which Green is chairman.
Now, activists are calling on the performer to axe the successful collaboration in response to the allegations against the 66-year-old businessman.
Speaking to The Independent, broadcaster Jasmine Dotiwala explains why Beyoncé’s brand is at odds with Green’s alleged misconduct, which he strongly denies.
“Her brand is all about empowering women and marginalised communities, particularly speaking up for black community issues. Thus, the two don’t sit well.
“Brands should consider very carefully the reputation of those they get in bed with.”
Yasmeen Hassan, of campaign group Equality Now, agrees, telling The Sunday Times: “Beyoncé has put herself forward as a women’s rights activist. She and her team need to look closely at these allegations.”
Nimco Ali, co-founder of Daughters of Eve, which campaigns to end female genital mutilation, added: “Beyoncé should say ‘I don’t want to work with Philip Green’.”
According to The Daily Telegraph, who were initially unable to name Green after he had been granted an injunction, five former employees have accused the Topshop owner of “bullying, intimidation and sexual harassment”.
He was identified on Friday in parliament by Lord Peter Hain, who used parliamentary privilege to make the claim.
Green is currently at a spa resort in Tucson, Arizona and told the Mail on Sunday that he had a good relationship with his employees, insisting that he had engaged in nothing more than “banter” with his staff.
“If anything I’ve said has caused offence, I’m happy to apologise,” he added.
“Nothing I’ve said was ever meant to be offensive.”
The Independent has contacted Topshop for comment.

Disturbing Video Shows Gun Pointed at Bullied Missouri Boy’s Head ; 3 in Custody
A 17-old-year-old and two juveniles are in custody after a disturbing video circulating on Facebook of a boy being bullied prompted “numerous” calls to police in Independence, Missouri, according to KTLA sister station WDAF in Kansas City.
The video shows one person pointing a gun at a kneeling, juvenile victim, while another repeatedly orders, “kiss my feet.”
Later, the same person who gave the orders can be seen punching the boy in the face several times.
The victim’s mother told WDAF she noticed her 13-year-old son had bruises when he came home last Saturday, but didn’t begin to get answers until after her younger son showed her the video.
“I was hurt, I was angry, I was crying, I was mad,” she said. “It’s sad that other kids feel it’s OK to treat kids that way.”
According to the mother, the other boys also stole money from her son.
Independence police said Alexander Schader, 17, and the two juvenile suspects were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon. In Missouri, 17-year-olds are legally considered adults.
The department said they had received multiple calls from people about the incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
Suspect in Kroger shooting tried to enter black church before attack
The gunman who fatally shot two people at a Kentucky Kroger supermarket this week may have intended to shoot up a predominately black church instead, according to a new report.
The new development supports the theory that the shooting may have been a racially motivated hate crime, WAVE 3 News reported.
Suspect Gregory Bush was captured on surveillance video trying to enter the First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown 15 minutes before the Kroger shooting, Jeffersontown Police Chief Sam Rogers told WAVE 3 News.
Had he arrived only an hour and 15 minutes earlier, he would have found 70 people getting ready to leave the church’s mid-week services, church administrator Billy Williams told the station.
Williams first spotted a man wearing similar clothing to Bush during a routine scan of the church’s security footage — and cops confirmed the attempted intruder was in fact Bush.
The FBI is investigating, though investigators would not speculate on a motive, according to the report.
But the son of a witness to the Kroger shooting told the outlet the suspect walked past his dad and said, “Whites don’t kill whites.”
The Louisville Urban League called for a hate crime investigation in a Facebook post.
“Because of the FB posts of the alleged perpetrator and the comments he made to a man in the parking lot of the grocery store, we thought it necessary to clearly state our desire and support for a hate crime investigation,” the statement said.
“We recognize that the alleged perpetrator may have had a mental inquest warrant filed previously, however his FB posts, his comments, and his visit to First Baptist Jeffersontown lead us to express our concern.”
The First Baptist congregation had been taking safety precautions after Dylann Roof opened fire, killing nine people — including a prominent pastor — at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC.
“We have several members that are armed during our midweek service which is what we passed yesterday,” Williams told the station. “And we have people that are armed on Sunday as well.”

Mom drowned baby in tub because she ‘did not want to hear her son cry
PHOENIX – Police have released new disturbing details in the death of a four-week-old Arizona baby after his 19-year-old mother was charged with first-degree murder.
According to the police report obtained by KPHO, while investigators were interviewing the mother, Jenna Folwell, her cell phone was searched with a warrant.
Detectives found searches for “ways to die instantly”, “missing babies cases”, “how long it takes babies to drown” and “reasons parents kill their babies” in her cellphone’s search history.
Chandler police say there were over 100 different searches on these types of topics.
Folwell had called police Wednesday afternoon while at Brooks Crossing Park near Alma School and Warner roads claiming that her baby had been kidnapped.
While police talked to Folwell, a search was conducted at her house where she lives with her father. Police said they found a black duffel bag with the dead baby inside.
Police asked Folwell about the searches found on her phone and she admitted to getting into the bathtub with her baby and then letting go of him. She said she chose this way because she “did not want to hear her son cry.”
Folwell told police her son was in the tub for about a minute, then she regretted her decision and got him out of the bathtub and attempted CPR. She said she then put her son in the duffel bag and drove to the park to report the kidnapping.
Police say the baby was found still wet inside the duffel bag between two blankets.
Folwell is being charged with first-degree murder.
The father of the baby, whose name has not been released, spoke out at Folwell’s initial court appearance.
“Rainer was a perfect baby and had such a happy and peaceful demeanor,” he said. “I will never get to have any firsts with my son. … She took away my life with Rainer the moment she took his life.”
The dad also said Folwell could have reached out to him and his family.
“We would have taken sole custody,” he said.
He also asked that she be held without bail.
“I want her to have a life without parole,” he said. “She can live every day knowing what she did to the poor innocent child.”
The judge set a $1 million cash-only bond for Folwell.
Texas man arrested for plan to murder, rape, and eat girl
According to a probable cause affidavit, Alexander Nathan Barter, 21, was arrested after allegedly communicating with an undercover officer, KTRE reported.
The affidavit revealed that Barter posted on the dark web asking for anyone interesting in allowing him to commit necrophilia and cannibalism to contact him.
An undercover special agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety spotted the post and responded. KTRE said the agent offered up his “young daughter.”
According to the affidavit, Barter replied, “Nice! I’m in East Texas. How old is your daughter? Can we kill her?”
Several more emails were exchanged in which Barter allegedly created a plan to meet up with the “father and daughter.” According to the agent, Barter said he would take the girl to a hotel to kill, assault, and eat her.
“I’m not going to change my mind about this,” Barter wrote, according to the affidavit. “I really want to do this.”
KTRE reported that Barter was arrested outside his residence when he went to meet the undercover agent and his “daughter.” He had a plastic trash bag and knife with him, the affidavit said. He also admitted to being in contact with the undercover agent and making the statements attributed to him in the affidavit.
Barter was charged with criminal solicitation, criminal attempt capital murder, conspiracy to commit capital murder, and criminal attempt sexual performance of a child.
ShelbyCountyToday.com posted a statement from district attorney Stephen Shires:
“The dark web, and the individuals that operate there, pose an increasing threat to the safety of our children. Technology has eliminated the barrier of distance for these sorta of activities.”
“Hopefully, this will serve as a continued reminder that parents should always be vigilant and aware of what their children are doing on the internet. I hope it also gives folks some comfort to know that there are also good guys at work-highly trained, highly capable individuals protecting us.”

Kanye West’s Baby’s Modeling Debut With Kim Kardashian Gets Backlash
The baby’s first commercial shoot is being criticized.
The baby’s modeling debut came quite early as she was born only 9 months ago. Her first professional shoot took place in the arms of her mother as Kardashian sports the social media star’s new eyeshadows. The baby’s look is apparently 100% natural which is appropriate given her age.
Kim Kardashian’s KKW Body Campaign With Cellulite & Stretch Marks Is A Total Departure
Months after coming under fire for harmful comments appearing to promote eating disorders, Kim Kardashian seems to be shifting the narrative with her latest Instagram posts, and TBH, it’s about time. Compared to her ads from past years, Kim Kardashian’s KKW Body Campaign with cellulite, stretch marks, and bodies of all shapes and sizes is a total departure. The reality star, who’s no stranger to controversy surrounding the various tone-deaf and damaging body comments she’s made over the past couple of years, appears to be taking a step in the right direction with her latest campaign, and it’s so refreshing.
On Friday, Oct. 26, Kardashian West decided to surprise her fans by posting to her KKW fragrance Instagram channel for the first time in months. Rather than showing off her own nude physique, which is all over the Body fragrance’s Instagram account (the perfume bottle is actually a mold of her naked body, after all), the Keeping Up with the Kardashians personality shared three different photos that seem to be a stab at promoting body diversity and inclusivity.
Simply captioned with the hashtag #KKWBody, the un-retouched images on the KKW fragrance IG and Kardashian West’s official Twitter account feature curves, cellulite, and stretch marks. Fans are flooding to the comments section with messages of support, with some users writing, “Really bodies well done KK!!!” and “This makes me so happy. I could never pose like this, I’m extremely self conscious [sic], but this is absolutely wonderful.”
While the response has been mostly positive, a few users have pointed out that Kardashian’s track record isn’t the best when it comes to body positivity, and a few posts don’t suddenly make her a role model for the movement. The mom-of-three has made a few missteps in the past year, first promoting the sale of appetite-suppressing lollipops, sharing a “fat loss” post on her app, and then, most recently, appearing to bask in comments from her sisters about her looking “anorexic.” Elite Daily reached out to Kardashian West’s team for comment on the backlash, but did not hear back at the time of publication.
In an Instagram Story video shared to Kim’s account back in July, Kendall could be heard telling her older sister, “No, like I’m really concerned. I don’t think you’re eating. You look so skinny.”
Appearing to bask in her sisters’ comments about her looking “anorexic,” Kim responded with the most uncomfortable comment. “You guys! I’m not that skinny!” she said. “I’m down to 119 pounds.” Elite Daily reached out to Kim, Khloé, and Kendall’s teams for comment at the time of the post, but did not hear back at the time of publication.

North Carolina Woman Tells Black Sisters Waiting For AAA ‘You Don’t Belong’
The woman also threatened to “bring out my concealed weapons too.”
A North Carolina woman has been dubbed “South Park Susan” after harassing two black sisters waiting for AAA outside an apartment complex in south Charlotte.
Videos of the incident, which were shared by Chele Garris on Facebook, show the woman repeatedly asking the sisters, “Do you live here?” before telling them “I’m white … and I make $125,000 a year and I want to make sure that you’re all up in here.”
The sisters, who were waiting for the vehicle roadside assistance service outside the Camden Fairview Apartments in SouthPark, are also told by the woman that she is “fucking fabulous,” before she threatens to “bring out my concealed weapons.”
“Is your boyfriend here? Is your baby daddy here? Nobody cares, I’m white and I’m hot,” she said. “You’re hanging around in a place you don’t belong.”
Though the incident occurred on Oct. 19, the videos have gone viral after being uploaded to social media on Friday.
The sisters told Fox 8 on Saturday that they were “so distraught and still very upset about what has taken place only because of the color of our skin.”
“It’s so upsetting to know that today we still have this over racism going on in 2018,” they said.
Social media users identified the woman, noting that she worked for Spectrum Enterprises, a company that is a part of Charter Communications. In a statement provided to local ABC affiliate WSOC-TV, the company said that she had been terminated, identifying her only by her last name.
“The incident recorded in Charlotte is a blatant violation of Charter’s code of conduct and clearly disregards the company’s commitment to inclusion and respectful behavior,” it said. “As such, Ms. Westwood’s employment with the company has been terminated, effective immediately.”
A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department told HuffPost that while they could not confirm the name of the suspect, “four criminal summons’ have been issued” including “two counts of communicating threats and two counts of simple assault.”
“Once the summons’ have been served the suspects [sic] name can be released,” a statement said.
Chele Garris did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
