‘Avengers Assemble: Black Panther’s Quest’ Review: T’Challa and Shuri Launch into Adventure
if you just can’t get enough of Black Panther, I have some very good news for you. A brand new season of Disney XD’s hit action-oriented animated series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble is about to kick off in a big way this weekend. It not only launches Season 5 with a two-part special premiere, it also sets up the main thrust of this season’s storytelling focus, “Black Panther’s Quest.”
Over the previous four seasons, the gathered Avengers–which have included Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Falcon, Hawkeye, Thor, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and many more–have tackled the likes of Red Skull and Thanos before taking on the “Ultron Revolution” and “Secret Wars” storylines. Now, thanks in no small part to the smash-hit success of Black Panther and T’Challa in the MCU and Marvel Comics, the Wakandan King (and his sister) are headlining the adventure in a new globe-trotting quest. The hourlong premiere is a perfect way to set up Black Panther’s relationships with the other Avengers, establish the Disney XD version of his sibling rivalry with Shuri, and launch the duo into their own focused storyline.
Before we dig too deep into the review, here’s the two-part special’s trailer to bring you up to speed:
The Black Panther must decide his loyalties. Is he an Avenger first or King of Wakanda? As the mysterious Shadow Council rises to challenge Wakanda, T’Challa teams up with his sister Shuri to go on missions that no other Avenger can.
It’s a globe-trotting journey of espionage and mystery as old foes resurface and new friends are made. In the end, Black Panther must balance defending his home and stopping threats before they start. Is he a sword or a shield? Only he can decide.
Don’t miss the season premiere of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble: Black Panther’s Quest 9/23 at 9:00PM on Disney XD!

Rihanna appointed as ambassador by Barbados
Singer Rihanna has said she “couldn’t be more proud” after being given a new ambassadorial role by the government of Barbados.
The artist, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was named “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary” for her home country on Thursday.
The role involves promoting education, tourism and investment.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said she was honoured to confer the title.
“Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to treasure the island as her home,” the prime minister said in a statement.
“She has also demonstrated, beyond her success as a pop icon, significant creative acumen and shrewdness in business. It is therefore fitting that we engage and empower her to play a more definitive role as we work to transform Barbados.”
Rihanna is one of the best-selling singers of all time, with 250 million record sales globally. She has also enjoyed success as an actress and fashion designer, and launched a widely-praised makeup collection last year.
The singer was born in Saint Michael in Barbados, and grew up in the capital, Bridgetown.
She lived there until her teen years when she was discovered by an American record producer, who helped her break into the US charts.
Last year a street she used to live on was renamed Rihanna Drive in her honour.
In a statement accepting her new role, the singer (who is now described as Ambassador Fenty by the Barbados government) said she “couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title” in her home country.
“Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility. I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mottley and her team to re-imagine Barbados.”

In the photo, you can see both Cardi B and Offset hand-in-hand exchanging vows in a very private ceremony. Cardi and Offset wed September 20th 2017 with only her cousin and the officiant present.
Cardi has since expressed via Twitter just how much the day meant to her, and why keeping it private was so important to her.
“There are so many moments that I share with the world and there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!” Cardi shared.
Since tying the knot, Cardi B and Offset have also welcomed their first child together, baby girl Kulture Kiari Cephus, who neither mommy or daddy can seem to get enough of.

Color of Change: Remember the Outcry Over Princess Tiana’s Makeover in Wreck-It Ralph 2? Disney Listened!
You know, we relish every opportunity to use our powers for good, so we were thrilled to hear that an article we published last month helped influence some very positive change at Disney, one of the world’s oldest, largest and most revered movie studios (and self-proclaimed creators of “the happiest place on Earth,” Disneyland).
After we, several other outlets and commenters on social media spoke out about the seeming whitewashing of Disney’s only black princess (as well as its other princesses of color) in its upcoming Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, our friends at racial justice organization Color of Change launched a campaign lobbying the 79-year-old studio to try harder when it comes to representing one of their rare black characters.
And Disney took note—of the campaign, our article, and the general outcry regarding the appearance of their formerly dark-skinned, wider-nosed and full-lipped princess, who, through the unfortunate magic of CGI, had been homogenized into a button-nosed, sandy and curly-haired pixie who basically looked like a super-tan version of all the other Disney princesses.
