Man charged with knowingly spreading HIV
GULFPORT, Miss. — Police say a Mississippi man has been charged with knowingly exposing others to HIV.
News outlets report 29-year-old Tyrone Ross, of Gulfport, was arrested Sunday as the result of a complaint received against him at a hospital.
Gulfport police Sgt. Clayton Fulks says Ross met a man while they were in jail and was intimate with him behind bars. Fulks says they continued their relationship after they were released.
Police say the relationship lasted between October 2015 and May 2018.
Police say Ross had previously been convicted for knowingly exposing others to HIV twice. It’s unclear if Ross has a lawyer.

Junkies are filling Bronx parks with over 5,000 used needles a week
Junkies have been dumping some 5,000 used needles a week in parks across the Bronx — prompting desperate city officials to install dozens of syringe-disposal kiosks in hopes of cleaning up the dangerous mess.
There has been a dramatic gain in the number of syringes found in parks in the Bronx in recent years because of the ongoing opioid epidemic, city Health Department officials say.
The 60 kiosks, which will be locked trash boxes placed in the hardest-hit Bronx parks, are part of a $60 million HealingNYC program to combat the drug plague, announced Monday.
The plan will also include outreach from needle-exchange programs to users who shoot up in parks.
“Everyone deserves parks that are safe and clean,” said Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver. “Our goal is to protect parkgoers and to offer a helping hand to those struggling with addiction.”
He added that the program will be modeled after similar initiatives in Seattle and Vancouver, Canada.
Among the 16 impacted parks is Saint Mary’s in Mott Haven — the largest park in the South Bronx — as well as Tremont Park and Crotona Park.
City Health Department officials couldn’t say how many needles a typical addict runs through per day, since it varies by level of addiction, as well as the type and amount of drug injected.
Drug users are eager to dispose used needles quickly because they’re worried about getting caught by police, according to Mark Townsend of the Corner Project in Washington Heights.
The nonprofit group piloted the city’s first-ever syringe kiosk in May 2016, installing a daisy-shaped drop box at Haven Park Underpass in upper Manhattan.
The first city-run kiosks — which will be emptied by trained park workers or needle-exchange-program staffers — can hold from 250 to 2,000 syringes each, according to health officials.
The program will expand to other boroughs if it proves successful, but officials couldn’t immediately say when the first of the kiosks will be installed.
“Collaborating with NYC Parks is part of our comprehensive plan to address the opioid epidemic and help keep all New Yorkers safe, including people who use drugs,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett.
As part of the city’s wider efforts to combat opioid use and stem an increase in overdoses, Mayor Bill de Blasio recently approved the opening of four supervised injection facilities where drug users can shoot up under medical supervision.
Community hearings concerning the sites — two in Manhattan, one in the Bronx and one in Brooklyn — have been scheduled while the city awaits necessary approvals in coming months.

Paris Jackson Talks Family Drama After Janet’s BBMAs Performance
Later that night, Rebbie’s son, Austin Brown, shared a photo from Janet’s performance on Instagram. “Couldn’t be more proud of my aunt for not only delivering a stellar performance but also showing people greatness is ageless,” the singer wrote. “Congrats on your Icon award.”
Paris Jackson shared a screenshot on Instagram Stories Monday, writing, “Ditto.”
The 20-year-old Gringo actress was criticized on social media for not showing up to support Janet, prompting her to address some larger issues within the Jackson family once and for all.
Paris, the daughter of the late Michael Jackson, added, “Thank you for understanding.”
“Every family has their moments of trauma, heartbreak, separation, love, oneness, tribe, pain, everything. EVERY FAMILY. My family, specifically, and a good number of others…well, our drama is broadcasted worldwide through media. But that doesn’t mean our family issues are any different from yours. Ours are just made public,” said Paris, who’s father tried to keep her out of the public eye. “Every level has another devil. Every life has their own s–t to deal with. We ain’t inferior or superior to y’all. We’re all f–king human. So let’s act like it. I appreciate any and every person reading this and I’m grateful for everything in my life, positive and negative.”
In her acceptance speech, a soft-spoken Janet told the audience, “Everything we lack, God has in abundance: compassion, sensitivity, patience and a boundless love. So, again, I want to thank all of you for this honor and I thank God for giving me the precious energy that lets me live my life as an artist who, every single day, seeks to expand my capacity to love. Thank you so much.”
A little bit later, Paris updated her Instagram Stories again, writing, “Also not to mention, no one from my mgmt reached out to me about attending billboards or about the award, and no one from my family did either. I had absolutely no idea until y’all spammed me with hatred.”

Texas governor scraps shotgun giveaway after school shooting
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has scrapped plans to give away a “Texas-made shotgun“ after a gunman used a shotgun in a Friday rampage that left 10 dead in a high school near Houston.
A spokesman for Abbott, a Republican, said Monday the campaign contest is still active, but the winner will now receive a $250 gift card.
The webpage for the contest has been changed from one featuring the governor holding a shotgun to one without any pictures, now advertising the gift card. The change was made over the weekend, the Abbott spokesman said.
Abbott’s reelection campaign launched the shotgun giveaway contest on May 1, prior to the high school murders in Santa Fe, Texas. The contest quickly caught the eyes of Texas gun control activists, who pressed Abbott over the weekend.
“I find this giveaway deeply disturbing for a number of reasons, chiefly among them the fact that Friday’s shooting at Santa Fe HS was carried out with a shotgun,” Jack Kappelman, a student organizer of Austin’s March For Our Lives affiliate, wrote in an email to POLITICO. Kappelman is a senior at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy, a high school in Austin.
The contest also drew the attention of potential gubernatorial challengers, including Andrew White, who is running in the Democratic primary. White posted a picture on Twitter of an Abbott campaign door hanger that advertised the contest with a picture of a shotgun.
“If nominated on May 22, I won’t have to give away shotguns to get people to vote for me. Can you believe this?“ White wrote.
Abbott has promised “swift” action following last week’s school shooting, including a Tuesday roundtable to discuss next steps.

Construction worker finds noose at Queens home
BROAD CHANNEL, Queens— It’s the last thing Jawuan Blake, a construction worker, expected to see at his Queens job site Thursday.
“I come out, take a few steps, look up and see a noose hanging – my heart just stopped,” he said.
Blake told PIX11, Saturday, it was hurtful to see the noose on the side of the home on East 6th Road in Broad Channel.
The home is part of NYC’s Build it Back program, which launched after Superstorm Sandy.
“No one should have to come to work and see that, it’s 2018,” he said.
He took pictures and when he told his coworkers he said they made insensitive comments and ignored it.
“I feel like it’s not a joke or laughing matter,” he said.
John Kodetsky lives next door to where the noose was found.
“I don’t think it should have been done but I thought the guys were fooling around,” he said, adding he saw the noose.
“As a sign of a death mark, It’s kind of disturbing,” Rob Wilson, an electrician who has also been working on the home responded.
Workers at the site tell PIX11 they want Tishman Construction to take the matter seriously and take appropriate action.
PIX11 reached out to the company for comment and have not heard back from anyone yet.
The workers say they have a meeting with the company Monday morning.

NRA’s Oliver North blames ADHD drug Ritalin for mass shooting — and then admits: ‘I’m certainly not a doctor’
Newly-appointed National Rifle Association (NRA) President Oliver North on Sunday suggested that ADHD drugs and violent TV shows were to blame for mass shootings at schools.
During a discussion about the recent school shootings in Santa Fe, Oliver told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace that the NRA had developed a solution.“The problem we’ve got is we’re trying like the dickens to treat the symptoms without treating the disease,” he continued. “And the disease in this case isn’t [the right to bear arms in] the Second Amendment. The disease is youngsters who are steeped in a culture of violence, they’ve been drugged in many cases. Nearly all of these perpetrators are male and they’re young teenagers in most cases.”
Mother of boy, 4, who was locked in closet and nearly died sentenced to 25 years
SOME PEOPLE DO NOT NEED TO CONCEIVE CHILDREN
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The mother of a 4-year-old Michigan boy who was left in a closet and nearly died last year was sentenced Friday to 25 to 50 years in prison.
Megan Schug, 24, said in court she was sorry and, “I love every one one of my children.”
But Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge Sarah Lincoln said as an assistant prosecutor and judge she has confronted rapists and murderers, “yet you stand before me as possibly the most evil person who has ever been in this courtroom.”
“You were attempting to kill him slowly,” Lincoln said. “Had you wanted to kill this child you could have done it quicker and more painless but you subjected him to months if not years of prolonged suffering.”
Schug pleaded guilty in February to a charge of child abuse after taking her son, Maloyd Gaines to Bronson Battle Creek on March 22, 2017. He was lethargic, emaciated, and having trouble breathing and Schug told doctors he was not eating.
More: Witness: Child starved, beaten, kept in closet
Chief Assistant Calhoun County Prosecutor Daniel Buscher said when he saw pictures of the boy he thought there was a mistake……

Body of ‘severely neglected’ child found in California storage unit
SACRAMENTO – Officers found the body of a child after responding to a storage facility in Sacramento on Tuesday night, according to KTXL.
The body was inside of a storage unit that belongs to Nevada residents Tyler and Averyauna Anderson, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Sacramento and Reno police departments have opened a joint investigation with Reno as the lead agency.
According to the Reno Police Department, Tyler’s 5-year-old daughter died at some point in the last two weeks inside of Tyler’s and his wife Averyauna’s apartment in Reno.
Reno PD says the couple then rented a vehicle to transport the child’s body from Reno to the Sacramento facility, located on the 1800 block of Glenrose Avenue.
Investigators revealed that the child had been severely neglected prior to her death.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested Tyler Anderson. He was booked into the Sacramento Main County Jail on manslaughter charges. He is awaiting extradition back to Reno.
Investigators say Averyauna Anderson is in custody at the Washoe County Jail in Reno – facing two charges, child abuse and destroying or concealing evidence.
Both Averyauna and Tyler were arrested on Wednesday.
The child’s identity will be released once the corner notifies next of kin. The cause of death was not known as of Friday evening.
Former playboy model jumps to her death with her 7-year-old son
In a most tragic incident coincidentally occurring during Mental Health Awareness Month, a former African-American Playboy model has jumped to her death, taking her 7-year-old son with her.
The former Miss November Stephanie Adams vaulted from the 25th-floor window of a New York City hotel on Friday morning.
Some hotel employees of the Gotham Hotel speculate that Adams first dropped her son, and then herself jumped. “From what (the guests) told me, they heard a light drop and then a heavier drop,” said one, according to the New York Daily News. “I’m still shook up about it.”
Adams was reportedly in the midst of a contentious divorce from her estranged husband, chiropractor Dr. Charles Nicolai, which included custody of their son, Vincent.
Adams recently asked a judge to allow her to take Vincent to Spain but was denied, said William Beslow, her ex’s lawyer.
“Apparently this was a trip for which there wasn’t going to be a return to the United States,” Beslow said. “The court believed that wouldn’t be appropriate given his (the child’s) relationship with Dr. Nicolai.”
The News reports that the NYPD responded to five domestic disputes involving the couple between July 2017 and March 2018. There was an order of protection in their case, although it was unclear which spouse requested it.
Several months ago, the 46-year-old mother tweeted about domestic violence. It wasn’t her first time…..
