WATCH: White woman calls the cops on black man who’s trying to fix up house in her neighborhood
SIGH ANOTHER DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO BE BLACK. ? She was like… *Mr Rogers voice* DON’T YOU PLEASE BE MY NEIGHBOR!
A video posted on YouTube earlier this month shows a black real estate investor in Memphis, Tennessee dealing with local police officers after a neighbor called them on him while he was trying to fix up the next-door house.
As real estate investor Michael Hayes writes, he went to the house, which is in a dilapidated condition, to inspect it. The woman came out of the house and asked him what he was doing. At this point, he showed her the investment contract that he had giving him permission to work on the house, as well as written permission that he received from the house’s owner to be on the property.
However, this didn’t seem to satisfy the woman’s suspicions about him, and she ended up calling the police……

NJ teen earns college degree before graduating high school – graduates college on May 19, High school on June 13
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – A New Jersey teen is skipping the usual academic order and earning a college degree before he’s even graduated high school.
Kwinton Adams, 17, is set to earn his associates degree from Warren Community College on Saturday. He graduates from high school on June 13.
“I like studying,” Adams said.
Adams pulls 6-hour study sessions each day to conquer both his high school assignments and college class homework. He earned six Advanced Placement credits toward his degree and took online courses in order to complete his fast track of studies.
“I just schedule and plan when I’m going to do homework,” he said.
Adams also credits his mom for the inspiration to tackle both at once. She gave him his motivation.
“You have to try twice as hard and you should not be afraid to, to like take the next step,” he said.
Adams will attend Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania next fall. He plans to study biology and attend medical school. He wants to be a physician or neurosurgeon.
He offered this tip to other teens: “Don’t doubt yourself.”

Worst ambulance dispatcher ever told woman she’d die
An unapologetic ambulance dispatcher claims she was overworked and under pressure when she told a dying French woman, “You’ll definitely die one day” — hours before the victim actually did, according to reports.
Patient Naomi Musenga was having severe stomach pain when she dialed the city of Strasbourg’s ambulance service and got the gruff operator on the line, BBC News reported.
“I’m going to die,” Musenga told the worker, who replied, “You’ll definitely die one day, like everyone else.”
As Musenga struggled to describe her pain, the dispatcher responded, “If you don’t tell me what’s going on, I’ll hang up!”
The worker, who has not been identified, eventually dispatched a doctor to Musenga instead of an ambulance. After five hours, the 22-year-old victim was rushed to a hospital, where she suffered a stroke and died of multiple organ failure.
The dispatcher, who came under fire for her callous comment, tried to defend herself by saying she and her colleagues are “constantly under pressure” — but she stopped short of apologizing to Musenga’s family.
“In the conditions, let’s say it was inappropriate,” the worker told French TV on Sunday night when asked if she regretted her behavior. “We are constantly under pressure … I can be two or three hours hanging on my phone, I have no time to get up. There’s so much [demand] everywhere. We hang up, and we pick up.”
Last week, her lawyer said she normally fields an average of 2,000 calls a day.
“When … you hear, ‘I have a stomach ache’ … it is true that the first reflex is to think that there is no absolute emergency and that one has to go and see their [general practitioner],” the lawyer said.
The dispatcher had just returned to work after being off for two weeks and started her day at 7:30 a.m. Musenga’s call came four hours into her shift, at 11:30 a.m.
The victim’s 3-minute call dates back to December — but it recently made headlines after the disturbing audio was released.
The worker, who has been a part of the ambulance system for 24 years, has been suspended, the BBC said, citing Le Parisien newspaper.
Musenga’s family said the operator isn’t to blame and sympathized with her stressful working conditions, France’s BFMTV reported.
Authorities are investigating but said they’re looking into streamlining France’s emergency phone numbers, which vary for police, ambulance, fire and the European Union emergency number 112.
Benjamin Griveaux, a spokesman for the French government, said French citizens are more familiar with 911 than their own set of numbers.

Man who gunned down girlfriend was ‘upset’ with her outfit
A jealous boyfriend in Arizona is accused of killing his girlfriend because he was “upset” about her outfit, authorities said.
Martin Larney, of Mesa, was arrested Monday in the shooting death of his 22-year-old girlfriend, Alina Duwyenie, AZCentral reported.
Police said Larney, 22, changed his story twice before confessing to shooting Duwyenie on Sunday morning at his apartment over her clothing choice.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:30 a.m. on reports of an accidental shooting. They rushed Duwyenie to a local hospital, where she died.
Larney’s brother was home at the time of the incident and told investigators that he heard a “loud noise.”
“[The brother] ran into the room and found the defendant sitting next to the victim holding her head where she was injured,” the police report stated.
Larney admitted to authorities that he owned the gun, which he said he purchased a month earlier for protection. The loaded weapon accidentally fired, he claimed, when he threw the firearm across the couch.
The boyfriend, however, then changed his story and claimed that he was attempting to load the gun when a shot fired.
Ultimately, he confessed to gunning down his girlfriend because he was “jealous and upset at [her] for what she was wearing,” according to police.
Larney was arrested and booked at Maricopa County Jail, where his bond is set at $750,000.

Video shows stranger enter bedroom and expose himself as baby, mom sleep
LAYTON, Utah — Police hope someone can help them identify the person who broke into a Utah home and walked around a master bedroom where a woman and her baby were sleeping, according to KSTU.
According to a Facebook post from the Layton Police Dept., the burglary happened around 3:40 Monday morning at a home near 2500 E and 200 S.
Police said part of the burglary was captured on a baby cam, and the video footage shows the burglar exposing himself and standing next to the bed and crib where the mother and baby slept.
The young Layton couple, who didn’t want to be identified, said they noticed something was off early Monday morning.
“Our sliding door to our bedroom was halfway open. Certain things in my mind kind of triggered a red flag,” the husband said.
When he checked his recently installed nanny cam, he was shocked to see a man walking around his bedroom while his wife and infant son were asleep.
“It terrifies me. I really don’t know how to process it,” his wife said.
Despite having several electronics in plain sight, nothing was taken. The woman and child weren’t touched, but the man was seen exposing himself with an iPhone in his hand.
“What if he was taking pictures of me? I feel like that’s taken from me. My privacy of my body should be mine alone,” the woman said.
The couple isn’t sure how he got in, because there were no signs of forced entry and every door was locked. The only scenario that makes sense is that the suspect knew their garage code, which means he was either watching them or knew them personally.
“That’s what is worrisome to us, that it could potentially be somebody that we know, and this has been happening under our nose,” said the husband.
They not only feel violated but terrified, with a 2-year-old girl and an 8-month-old boy in the home.
“Imagine you have these little children, that your whole life revolves around these kids,” said the wife.
Since the nanny cam was only installed a month ago, they worry that the incident wasn’t the first time.
“It almost feels like someone has taken away my virtue, in a way without my consent,” his wife said.
Despite the suspect’s face being hidden, the couple hopes someone recognizes the man in the video – whether it be through his mannerisms or his clothing. He’s also seen wearing a wedding ring.
“I’m sure he would be livid if something like this happened to his wife,” said the woman.
If someone doesn’t recognize him, the couple hopes he will turn himself in, so they can have the opportunity to forgive.
“Things can be made right but you have to at least try,” said the wife.
Anyone with information that may help police identify the burglar is urged to call 801-497-8300 and reference incident number 18-0370.
Jada Pinkett-Smith Opens Up About Her Friendship With Tupac, Says She’s Angry Because She Thought He’d Still Be Here
“I’ve had a lot of loss. So many of my close friends gone. They didn’t make it to 30. They didn’t make it past 25. A lot of people talk about my relationship with Pac and figure that out. That was a huge loss in my life,” Pinkett-Smith said.
She continued, “Because he was one of those people I expected to be here. My upset is more anger because I feel like he left me. And I know that’s not true and it’s a very selfish way to think about it… I really did believe he’d be here for the long run. And when I think about it I still get really mad.”

Islamophobic? Coffee shop refuses to serve man who confronted Muslim woman in niqab
Watch here: https://youtu.be/BUadxQ7t058
LOS ANGELES — Another coffee shop confrontation caught on smartphone video is causing a stir on social media — only this time it involves a man angered by a woman who identifies herself as a Muslim.
A barista at a coffee shop in Riverside, Calif., refused to serve a man after he appears to insult the woman, who was wearing a black niqab, a headscarf that covers most of the face except her eyes.
In a video seen 1.6 million times on Twitter by Monday night, the man turns to the woman and asks, “Is it Halloween or something?” When she replies, “Do you know I am a Muslim?” and inquires whether he has a problem with it, he says, “I don’t like your religion, how’s that?” and adds, “I don’t want to be killed by you.”
The incident took place Friday at a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf shop in Riverside east of Los Angeles, KTLA-TV reports.
In the confrontation, the woman, in a loud voice, then seeks to engage the man in a discussion about religion, asking him whether he has read the Koran or the Bible, and mentions the teachings of Jesus. The man dismisses her, saying “I don’t have any kind of conversation with idiots.”
She says, “You are committing hate speech against me” as another customer is heard shouting at the man from across the room, invoking the f-word and calling him a racist. A barista behind the counter who identifies herself as the supervisor said she isn’t serving the man because he’s being disruptive and “being very racist.”
He then leaves.
This latest video, posted to YouTube, comes a month after Starbucks became embroiled in a controversy over racism at a Philadelphia location. In that incident, also videotaped, a manager called police after two black men came to wait for a friend, but didn’t order anything. One was denied permission to use the restroom.
Police arrested the pair for trespassing, but Starbucks didn’t press charges and both the coffee giant and police later apologized. Starbucks plans to hold a chainwide day of training May 29 to educate employees on issues involving racial sensitivity and profiling.

Uber will no longer force victims of sexual assault into arbitration
Uber says it is taking steps to help reduce the culture of silence around sexual violence on its platform in the wake of a CNN investigation into sexual assaults and abuse by Uber drivers.
The rideshare company said Tuesday it will no longer force into arbitration passengers who allege that they have been sexually assaulted or harassed by drivers — something Uber says was previously required under its terms of service.
Instead, Uber will allow victims of sexual violence, including riders, drivers and employees, to choose the venue in which they want to pursue redress of their sexual harassment or assault claims, whether that’s arbitration, mediation or open court.
The change comes two weeks after CNN reported the results of its investigation, which found at least 103 Uber drivers in the United States who have been accused of sexually assaulting or abusing their passengers in the past four years. The drivers were arrested, are wanted by police, or have been named in civil suits related to the incidents. It was the first time that numbers have been put to the issue.
Previously, upon signing up for Uber’s service, Uber says users agreed to resolve any claims on an individual basis through arbitration. The practice, which has been challenged in lawsuits, helped the company keep the issue quiet, according to critics. Lyft, an Uber competitor, has a similar terms of service that says users will agree resolve claims through arbitration.
“We think it is very, very important to allow survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment the control and agency that was, frankly, stripped from them in that incident,” Uber’s chief legal officer, Tony West, told CNN in a phone interview. West added, “I want to thank (CNN) for the reporting that you’ve done on this issue.”
Despite repeated requests, the company has yet to agree to an on-camera interview with CNN.
West, who joined Uber in October 2017, served as associate attorney general during the Obama administration, and helped with the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act in 2013.
Uber also announced two other policy changes pertaining to sexual assault.
The company will no longer require confidentiality as part of settlement agreements in lawsuits pertaining to sexual assault or harassment. As with the arbitration change, this will apply to cases currently pending and cases moving forward.
Additionally, it will publish a “safety transparency report” that will put numbers behind sexual assaults and other incidents that occur on its platform. To do so, it will develop a common taxonomy for how to classify sexual harassment and assault reports, which it plans to also make available to other companies. The lack of transparency about the number of incidents perpetrated by drivers has been a sticking point by victims in lawsuits, which claim Uber tries to hide the true scope of the issue from its customers.
“It’s only by accounting and acknowledging [reports] that we are empowered to take action in reducing the incidents of sexual assault,” said West. “We want to bring these numbers out in the open. We want people to acknowledge the enormity of the issue, and we want us to begin to think of constructive ways to prevent and end sexual assault.”
Related: CNN investigation: 103 Uber drivers accused of sexual assault or abuse
There is no publicly available data for the number of sexual assaults by Uber drivers or drivers of other rideshare companies. CNN’s analysis came from an in-depth review of police reports, federal court records and county court databases for 20 major US cities.
At least 31 drivers have been convicted for crimes ranging from forcible touching and false imprisonment to rape, and dozens of criminal and civil cases are pending, CNN found.
The individual reports from across the country show a range of crimes, from victims being kidnapped and raped to trapped in cars with electronic locks by their drivers. One victim was attacked by a serial rapist who assaulted his passenger and 8 other women; another was an elderly woman who was beaten and raped; one victim says her driver forced her to drink his urine.
CNN also contacted more than 20 police departments to obtain data on complaints that involved Uber and Lyft drivers and sexual assault. Four police departments — Austin, Boston, Denver and Los Angeles — tracked crimes involving rideshare drivers and shared their data on sexual assault complaints.
CNN did not include most of these complaints in its tally of cases because they could not all be verified with incident reports. However, the numbers suggest that there may be many more overall incidents of sexual assault than the 103 cases found in the investigation.
Related: Senator pressures Uber after CNN investigation into driver assaults
West told CNN he expects the number of reports to go up once Uber releases data on sexual assaults and other incidents. There’s no public timetable yet for when Uber will release that report.
“I will tell you that, when this data is actually published as part of the safety transparency report, I think those numbers are going to be disturbing,” said West. “Once people know we’re counting and we’re paying attention then what is a vastly unreported crime today will become more reported — and that’s a good thing.”
The company says it will lean on hired advisors such as Ebony Tucker of the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence, Cindy Southworth of the National Network to End Domestic Violence and Tina Tchen, a founder of the New York Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund.
The news came one day ahead of a court-mandated deadline for Uber to respond in a proposed class action lawsuit filed by law firm Wigdor LLP on behalf of nine women accusing drivers of sexual assault.
Uber is due to respond in court by Wednesday about whether it will require the women in the proposed class action suit to carry out their assault claims in arbitration. Uber said the women will now have the choice of bringing their individual assault claims to arbitration, meditation or open court. The women will have to bring other claims in the suit, including unfair business practices, to an arbitrator.
The suit was originally filed in November 2017 but gained increased public attention in recent weeks after the women wrote a letter to Uber’s board detailing their allegations and urging the company to remove its arbitration clause.
Following CNN’s investigation and the letter, Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, challenged Uber’s use of forced arbitration and in a letter to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi “respectfully requested” the company end the practice.
Beyond Uber, there’s been a push to cut back on the use of forced arbitration by employers.
Susan Fowler, the former Uber engineer whose blog post drove Uber to address sexual harassment within the company’s corporate workforce, is fighting on the workplace issue more broadly in California. She joined California lawmakers in April to introduce a state bill that would ban forced arbitration.
“As bold and far reaching as this announcement and decision is, and as unique as it is, it won’t give everything to everybody,” West said. “What’s most important is for individual survivors to be able to tell their individual stories.”

For the Love of God, Stop Asking the Black Panther Cast to Do the ‘Wakanda Forever’ Salute
You can SOMETIMES overdue a catchphrase or a gesture in this case the the actors Wakanda forever salute is getting old now.
I would understand if I was them I’d be annoyed after awhile too. Oh and if you think these actors should just do the salute because they owe us thanks. You sadly mistaken. I know these actors are so grateful to us fans but dayum son give them a break.
Oraiginal article written Monday May 14th 2018
The cast of Marvel’s Black Panther has been touring the world for months promoting their movie in interviews and red carpets where they’re inevitably asked to do the iconic “Wakanda Forever” salute. While there’s a lot to discuss about Black Panther, the one question that virtually everyone involved in the movie has been asked at some point isn’t about the film’s plot at all—it’s a request to do the salute. And honestly, it’s about time that we let those poor people do whatever the hell they want to do with their arms.
Doing the press circuit is one of the most grueling parts of actors’ jobs when they’re a part of film that’s a global phenomenon because we expect them to maintain a consistent level of excitement while answering the same general set of questions over and over again. With Black Panther now out for home release and Avengers: Infinity War in theaters, things haven’t calmed down for the actors at all.
Over the weekend, Chadwick Boseman gave a commencement address at his alma mater Howard University and yes, he gladly did the salute, but anyone who watched the speech could see that on some level, the actor was lowkey over it. Not the school, not the speech—the gesture…..
