Texas high school students walked out of class over gun violence. Now they are the victims.
It’s ALL TALK AND NO ACTION!!
Just 28 days ago, students at Santa Fe High School walked out of class along with teens across the country to demand an end to the bloodshed that has rippled through U.S. schools.
The Texas students distributed fact sheets on gun violence, they wore orange ribbons, they read a poem from a survivor of the Valentine’s Day massacre at a Parkland, Fla., high school.
They observed 17 minutes of silence on National Walkout Day, the 19th anniversary of a shooting at Columbine, a massacre in 1999 that triggered one of the first national debates over gun-control laws and school security.
On Friday, those same students — young people who have never known a world without active shooter drills in their classrooms — became the latest victims when bullets rained down again.
Police say nine students and one adult were killed when a gunman opened fire at the school. Explosives were found on the school campus and off the grounds.
This time it was the Santa Fe students whose frantic parents raced to the scene, this time it was the Santa Fe students whose anguished voices described the horror and panic that erupted at the start of the school day……..

Teen accused of killing dad who teased her for being fat
An 18-year-old woman from Indiana is accused of brutally killing her dad who teased her for being fat.
Ameera Stokes reportedly called 911 early Sunday to confess that she murdered her father, Donald Stokes, while visiting his home in Mt. Morris Township, Michigan, according to news station WJRT.
Police said the pair was fighting over “life issues” when the teen attacked her dad with a hammer then stabbed him, MLive.com reported.
Authorities arrived at the home to find the father’s body in the stairwell. He appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma, according to police.
The teen was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the Mother’s Day slaying. She is being held without bail.
Her mother, Gretchen Brasher, said she sent the teen to live with her dad as a child. However, the 18-year-old’s relationship with her father was fraught.
“He was very verbally abusive,” Brasher told news station WJRT. “She had a belly, so he would tease her about being fat.”

Man dismembered girlfriend’s body, made necklace with her teeth
A man in England was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday after being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, dismembering her body and admitting to police he made a necklace out of her teeth.
Devon & Cornwall Police said in a news release that Dean Lowe, 33, was convicted last week of killing his girlfriend, 32-year-old Kirby Noden, in January 2017.
The 33-year-old then lived with the evidence of the murder for months, and told family and friends that Noden had left him for another man.
In May 2017, authorities were contacted by concerned members of Lowe’s family after they received “disturbing” messages from him on social media, saying there had been a body on the floor, which he had cut up and put into bins, according to police.
“Either I’m getting set up or I’ve murdered Kirby. I had a blackout, hazy memory and woke up with a body on the floor. I am scared so I just got rid,” he wrote to a cousin, according to Sky News. “I put the body in the bins down the road. I remember the binmen finding all the meat and didn’t know what it was. The carpet was lifted because of the body matter.”
When investigators searched Lowe’s home, they found blood spattered on the walls, a metal pole and rock used to kill Noden, in addition to stains on a mattress the 33-year-old continued to sleep on.
He also told police he made a necklace of Noden’s teeth, according to Sky News.
“Miss Noden’s family have been put through a living hell with Lowe not disclosing where he disposed of Kirby’s body and denying all knowledge in court. Lowe added to their upset by insisting that Kirby was still alive,” Detective Inspector Ian Ringrose said in a statement. “We hope today’s verdict gives them some comfort in the conclusion of the case and our thoughts and sympathies are with them.”
During his sentencing on Tuesday, a judge said Lower showed the “opposite of remorse” by constantly lying.
“You must have eaten, slept, watched TV and taken your drugs next to [Noden’s corpse] for several days, with two bull terriers in the same room,” Justice May said. “You cut up what remained, wrapped some in the carpet and took the rest in rucksacks to the bins.”
Noden’s family thanked authorities to achieve a conviction in the case.
“Dean Lowe has taken away from us something totally precious, and although we welcome this verdict and sentence, it will never replace our loss,” the family said in a statement.

Teacher accused of choking, punching and dragging special education students
PIEDMONT, Okla. – A former special education teacher is accused of choking and dragging her students, along with multiple other allegations of physical abuse, according to KFOR.
Piedmont police arrested Holly Noelle Morris, 38, after parents complained.
According to an affidavit, one student’s mother became concerned when she noticed bruising on her son’s neck and face.
The mom tried contacting Morris, but told Piedmont police the teacher always had an excuse.
The allegations go as far back as January.
Witnesses, including students and staff, said they saw Morris choking, punching, pinching and squeezing two of her students on several occasions on the bus, in the bathroom, classroom and hallways, according to the affidavit.
Morris was even seen on video dragging a special needs child down the hall, according to police.
On another occasion, she allegedly dragged the same student down the hallway to the bus, cursing at a group of students telling them to “move out of the damn way.”
One mother even showed the bruised photos of her son to Morris earlier in the school year.
Morris resigned from Piedmont Public Schools in February.
She is charged with two misdemeanors of causing a child to be deprived, and was released after posting bond of $1,500 for each count.
KFOR made several calls to the superintendent that weren’t returned.
Latino Man Insulted When Starbucks Barista Writes Slur On Cup The coffee giant tried to apologize with a $50 gift card — which was refused.
Starbucks’ plan to close more than 8,000 locations on May 29 for employees to receive racial bias education can’t come soon enough for one Los Angeles-area man.
The man, who the media has identified as both “Pedro” and “Peter,” ordered two iced coffee drinks Tuesday afternoon at a Starbucks in La Canada.
An employee called out the name “Pedro” when the order was ready at the counter. But the drinks came with something the customer didn’t expect, want or desire: On both cups, according to KNBC-TV, the word “beaner” was written.
“It’s an offensive word used towards Latinos,” Pedro told KNBC’s sister station, Telemundo 52……..

Teacher accused of drowning raccoons, opossum in class
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A Florida high school agriculture teacher has been accused of drowning wild animals in a trash can as students watched and participated, CBS reports. The animals included a raccoon that had eaten one of the chickens the class was raising.
“It made me sick. It made me sick to my stomach,” says the mother of a student who took surreptitious pictures of the event.
The teacher reportedly trapped the raccoons in metal cages, then lowered the cages into water-filled trashcans.
“My son stood in the background, hid his phone and watched as they filled these trash cans full of water, and held these raccoons down in trash cans in the cages,” she tells FOX.
The Forest High School teacher, Dewie Brewton, was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, per the Ocala StarBanner. He has been the school’s Future Farmers of America adviser since 2006.
Officials received multiple complaints about the event; a district spokesperson says officials were told the animals were drowned “because [they] were nuisance animals to the ag program.”
In all, two raccoons and an opossum were reportedly killed.
“While law enforcement tells us the teacher did not do anything illegal, his actions before students are certainly questionable,” a rep for the school district said.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officials are also looking into the matter and will determine if laws were broken.

Police shut down woman who called 911 on black real estate investor
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis real estate investor inspecting a house he was purchasing says he was harassed by a neighbor who called police on him, according to WREG.
The neighbor he said was harassing him claimed he was acting suspiciously at a vacant property known to attract crime — and said she wasn’t the one who dialed the police.
Michael Hayes’ video has been viewed nearly 2 million times on YouTube since it was posted May 5.
Hayes says he was looking at a house he had under contract to buy near the University of Memphis. He put a sign in the yard, waved at a woman next door, then began pulling a board off the door so he could take photos of the property, he said.
That’s when neighbor Tiffany Albert yelled at him that he couldn’t do that and threatened to call police, he said. He began recording and waited for two Memphis police officers to arrive.
“This is what we go through,” Hayes says to the camera. “Young black man out here trying to do what’s right, and we get the police called on us.”
On Wednesday, Albert told WREG that she’s not racist, adding that she is “Spanish” and her boyfriend is black. Albert said she knows the owner and takes care of the lawn.
She said the vacant house is a hot bed for crime, so she was worried when she woke up to the sound of the boards being pulled off, and claimed Hayes wouldn’t show her paperwork or a business card until police showed up. Hayes said in the video that he showed her the sign that he posts in yards so residents know why he’s there. He later told police that he didn’t give her the paperwork from the owner because he felt threatened and didn’t want her coming close to him.
The video shows Memphis officers arrive and explain to Albert that Hayes has a right to be on the property. When Albert tries to tell Hayes, “Hurry up, do it and get out,” one officers tells her, “No, no, no, he can take his time.” Her partner adds, “He can take all day.”
Both officers agreed to Hayes’ request that they wait for five minutes while he took the pictures, and the three even posed for a selfie after he got done.
The Memphis Police Dept. later released a statement saying the video shows the officers responding to a complaint in a professional way.
“We are thankful to Mr. Hayes for recording a positive interaction with MPD officers and for sharing the true image of what our officers represent,” the department said.
