Nicole Eggert details her allegations that Scott Baio molested her as a minor

Nicole Eggert has taken her sexual assault allegations against Scott Baio to morning television.

The “Charles in Charge” alum appeared on NBC News’ “Megyn Kelly Today” on Tuesday to share her sexual assault allegations against her former costar, who she alleges began molesting her when she was 14.

Eggert, 46, said she previously lied about the nature of their relationship and became “really good at covering up” what happened to her.

 Baio, 57, who was in his 20s when he played Eggert’s nanny on the 1980s sitcom, denied her story and accused Eggert of damaging his reputation. He called her allegations “100% lies” before issuing a full rebuttal on his Facebook page on Sunday.

Joined by attorney Lisa Bloom, Eggert, 46, elaborated on the accusations she alluded to on Twitter over the weekend, saying that Baio inappropriately penetrated her with his finger when she was 14 and later used his position of power to intimidate her into keeping silent.

“I was very young and it was shocking, a little,” Eggert told Kelly of the first alleged incident. “I had never experienced anything like that before either. So, he was playing not only on my emotions, but on my hormones and all of those things.”

 Eggert said  the former teen heartthrob  abused her “quite often” through the age of 16.

“More than 10 times, more like probably once a week. And then on set, there was just a lot of groping, a lot of fondling, a lot of pulling me on his lap, trying to sneak kisses in the back, which other cast members saw,” she said.

(Kelly provided a statement from costar Alex Polinksy confirming inappropriate behavior by Baio and another cast member who witnessed her reaction to the alleged abuse.)

Eggert said that she lost her virginity to Baio just before she turned 18, rehashing a story she told in a 2013 radio interview with Nik Richie — an interview Baio cited that made light of their relationship.

Baio has said he and Eggert had a consensual sexual relationship and that Eggert was 18 when it happened. The actor-turned-reality-star shared documents over the weekend that he said proved she was wrong and accused Eggert of “shopping” her story around to “whomever will listen to it.”

Eggert said she was ashamed and didn’t speak up before because she wanted to protect the legacy of the beloved sitcom.

“What my truth is, is that I wasn’t ready to tell my story and for me it was always protecting the show and protecting that whole legacy that nothing happened there. That was my delusion and that was my cover-up always.”

Baio has not yet responded to Eggert’s TV appearance.
