New Jersey boy collects hundreds of toys for children in Puerto Rico
WOODLAND PARK, N.J. – Jayden Perez, 8, hysterically cried when he opened a gift from his parents. Inside an envelope hidden in the couch was a pair of VIP tickets to a New York Giants game. Perez is a diehard fan.
“I started crying,” he explained. “Because I never went to a Giants game.”
His mom got the tickets as a gift from her boss.
This grateful third-grader is now paying it forward. He and his mother, Ana Rosado, have organized a toy drive to benefit children devastated by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
“I’m teaching him, you know from a younger age, that he should lend a helping hand,” said Rosado.
There are now almost 900 toys piled high in boxes in their basement. Rosado said two women who are friends of the family will hand-deliver all the gifts to children in areas hardest hit by the storm. They plan to fly down in time for Three Kings Day, which is apart of the celebration of Christmas but it is observed on Jan. 6.
“To help the people who need to make a kid, a happy boy, happy girl, happy children,” said Hector Pena, a total stranger who stopped by tonight to donate several bags of gifts.
The family will be accepting donations from now until Dec. 15. For more information on how to donate you can call 201-913-6543 or contribute money for more toys here.

18-Year-Old in Riverside Arrested, Charged After Admitting to Molesting Over 50 Kids
An 18-year-old man in Riverside admitted to his mother he had molested 8- and 4-year-old boys in a motel — a confession that led to him being arrested and charged Saturday after also admitting to molesting more than 50 kids over several years, authorities said.
Since the age of 10, Joseph Hayden Boston had molested dozens of other children in different cities where he’s lived, according to the Riverside Police Department. Police said Boston admitted to the alleged crimes that occurred in his prior home cities of Lakewood and Buena Park.
But discovery of this alleged abuse only came to light after Boston had told his mother about it, police said.
At about 3 a.m. on Saturday, Boston’s mother went to the Magnolia Avenue Police Station and flagged down a Riverside police sergeant. She wanted to turn in her son after he had confessed to molesting two young children, police said.
She later picked up her son and took him to the police station, where he confessed before officers.
Boston said he had been staying at a motel called Simply Home Inn & Suites, which is located in the 9800 block of Magnolia Avenue. There, he “befriended” an 8-year-old boy and 4-year-old boy who were staying at the motel with their parents, police said in a news release.
“The children were allowed to go into the suspect’s room last night when the molestation occurred,” police said in a news release on Saturday.
Just “hours later,” police said, Boston called his mother and told her what he’d just done.
He admitted to sexually assaulting the two little boys inside his motel room, police said. But his confession didn’t stop there, as he also told authorities he’d actually molested “upwards of 50 children,” police said in a news release, with this abuse happening over a span of at least eight years and in various cities.
Riverside detectives arrested Boston, charging him with counts of oral copulation on a child under the age of 10. His bail was set at $1 million after he was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
Meanwhile, County of Riverside Child Protective Services took custody of the two boys who Boston told police he molested.
Since Riverside investigators believe there may be other victims of Boston, they are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Paul Miranda at 951-353-7945 or at [email protected].
Teen’s plastic surgery to look like Angelina Jolie goes very wrong
An Iranian woman has gone viral after claiming she’s had 50 surgeries in a bid to look like her idol Angelina Jolie.
Sahar Tabar claims to be one of the “Tomb Raider” actress’ biggest fans and has said she “would do anything” to emulate her.
The 19-year-old from Tehran underwent 50 surgeries in the space of just a few months, according to Al Arabiya.
This hasn’t been officially confirmed, however, so it’s possible her unique looks are the result of careful makeup or even prosthetics.
She also reportedly went on a diet to maintain her 90-pound weight, which would, in all likelihood, classify her as dangerously underweight.
Tabar has amassed more than 308,000 followers on Instagram although many have left unflattering comments on her pictures. One person simply posted “Zombie” on a recent shot while another said: “Her: Doc make me look like an 8-month-old corpse. Doc: Say no more.”

Yonkers man dies after being tasered at Best Buy
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — A 21-year-old Yonkers man died Wednesday night after he was tasered by officers.
Security from Best Buy struggled with Jonathan Maldonado after the man allegedly committed a larceny at the store around 5:50 p.m., officials said. Police responded to the scene and tasered Maldonado.
He was handcuffed, but began to lose consciousness, police said. Best Buy employees told officers that Maldonado had ingested several packets of an unknown substance.
Maldonado went into cardiac arrest while in an ambulance. He died at the hospital just before 7 p.m.
It was not immediately clear what exactly Maldonado allegedly did at the Best Buy in Hartsdale.
Three officers involved in the arrest suffered minor injuries, officials said. They were treated at a local hospital. The three officers have since been released and placed on modified duty.
Police plan to share more information on this incident on Dec. 1.

Man takes late-night trip to Waffle House, cooks own food after finding employee asleep
COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina man made the best of a late-night trip to Waffle House and cooked food for himself after finding an employee sleeping on the job.
Alex Bowen told WIS-TV he couldn’t sleep and was hungry Thursday morning, so he went to the popular restaurant for a late-night snack. When he arrived, there were no other customers or employees in sight — so he walked outside to his car to search for signs of life.
When he walked back inside, Bowen noticed a single employee who was asleep.
After waiting a couple minutes, he jumped on the grill and started making his own food.
“Got hot on the grill with a double Texas bacon cheesesteak melt with extra pickles,” Bowen said. “When I was done I cleaned the grill, collected my ill-gotten sandwich and rolled on out.”
Bowen documented the trip with pictures in a Facebook post.
Bowen stopped by the same Waffle House location Thursday afternoon and says the store isn’t very happy with his decision.
“[I] guess old Waffle House just gonna have to take the L on that one,” he told the station.
Bowen said he paid $5 for the melt when he returned.
According to a Waffle House spokesperson, the sleeping employee was suspended for a week.
Bullied 10-year-old girl hangs herself
A 10-year-old Colorado girl died of an apparent suicide — two weeks after she hanged herself when video surfaced on social media of the pre-teen fighting an alleged bully, according to a local report. Ashawnty Davis, an aspiring WNBA player and a fifth-grader at Sunrise Elementary School in Aurora, got into her “first-ever fight” on school property at the end of October, her parents told local news station KDVR.
Another student captured the fight on video and posted it on an app called Musical.ly, her father, Anthony Davis, told the station.
“She was devastated when she found out that it had made it to Musical.ly,” Davis said.
Once the video was posted, Ashawnty was relentlessly bullied until she reached her breaking point, her parents told the station.
“My daughter came home two weeks later and hanged herself in the closet,” said her mother, Latoshia Harris.
She spent another two weeks on life support at Children’s Hospital in Colorado before dying Wednesday morning.
Her parents believe that Ashawty was a victim of “bullycide” — when someone takes his or her life because of bullying, according to the report. They hope her story could help save other young victims’ lives.
“I want other parents to know that it’s happening,” Harris told the station. “That was my baby and I love my baby and I just want mothers to listen.”
In a statement issued to the station, the Cherry Creek School District said that it does not tolerate bullying in its schools, and has a “comprehensive bullying prevention program” in place.
“We were made aware of that video when a media outlet approached us with it,” the statement continued. “We took immediate action in response, turning the video over to police and addressing the matter with students.”
The fight did not take place during school hours, the district said.
