Seventeen Year Old Daughter and Boyfriend Are Assaulted With Hammer
In a statement to police, Fathema claimed she was forced into living two lives: one to appease her strict Islamic father at home and the other life that continued outside her home.
According to testimonies heard in court, Soruth Ali was woken up at 5am by noises coming from his daughter’s bedroom and opened the door to find her and boyfriend James Martin in bed together. He then grabbed a hammer and hit Martin over the head. After that, he punched and kicked his daughter Fathema before dragging her out of her bedroom by the hair while her family begged him to stop. The court heard that on the night of the incident, Fathema snuck her boyfriend in the house thinking her parents were away, but when they returned he hid in her bedroom for the night.
The assault took place August 21, and Ali has now been jailed for 14 months after he admitted to bodily harm and common assault. The 42-year-old’s daughter is in police protection after the incident and has now been placed in care to keep her away from her “very religious and very controlling” father.
After his sentencing, it surfaced that when Ali was 22 he served seven years in 1995 for the rape of a 15-year-old girl (assaulted when she was in her school uniform). Hmm, so this assault seems less about trying to protect his daughter from the world’s dangers, and more about the abuse of women (so anyone trying to defend this guy can save it).
Ali will not be allowed to contact his daughter for three years, under the terms of a restraining order.

Local Missing Virginia College Student Found Dead In North Carolina
The body of a woman found in Charlotte on Friday has been identified as that of a missing 19-year-old college student who disappeared Sept. 18 in the Virginia Beach area.
Authorities said the Mecklenburg County medical examiner’s office identified the body discovered behind a church Friday morning as that of Ashanti Billie, a student at a culinary school in Virginia Beach, who was last seen Sept. 18 about 5 a.m. as she entered a military base, where she worked at a sandwich shop.
Investigators did not release a cause or manner of death and gave no indications of how Billie’s body ended up more than 300 miles from where she was last seen.
At a news conference Saturday evening, Billie’s parents thanked those who sent prayers and messages of support from across the country and helped search for their daughter and locate her body. Then her mother, Brandy Johnson Billie, delivered pointed words for whoever was responsible for her Ashanti’s death.
“The person or persons that decided they wanted to take my baby away from us . . . you are a coward. You don’t deserve to breathe the air that she breathed,” Johnson Billie said.
Meltony Billie, the teenager’s father, urged the public to help other missing people find their way home.
“We say to everyone, stay encouraged,” he said. “This was not one of the outcomes we were seeking, but yet still we stay in the fight because there are other young people who are out there missing. Our desire and our prayers were answered. She’s home. She’s home with God.”
“I, along with the entire investigative team, offer our most sincere condolences to the Billie family, especially Ashanti’s parents Brandy and Tony. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” said Martin Culbreth, special agent in charge of the Norfolk Division of the FBI. “Our community should know that our work does not end here. Now our mission is to bring justice for Ashanti, and we will be relentless in our efforts to find who did this to her.”
Billie, who graduated from Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Prince George’s County, moved to Virginia to attend the Art Institute of Virginia Beach, where she studied culinary arts. She had recently started working at a Blimpie sub restaurant at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
In interviews before her body was discovered, Billie’s parents said she loved cooking and dreamed of opening a bakery or becoming an executive chef. Meltony Billie said his daughter made him crepes for Father’s Day and described her as “a comical young lady” who also loved dogs, especially their 10-year-old Shih Tzu named Rahab.
“I thought it was more of a secure environment, so I was excited for her to work on base,” he said.
Investigators said Billie entered the base about 5 a.m. on Sept. 18 but never arrived at work. A short while later, video shows her Mini Cooper leaving the base, but it was not clear whether Billie was in it, officials said previously.
Authorities recovered her cellphone in a dumpster in the Norfolk area, and on Sept. 23 they recovered her car in Norfolk as well.
The FBI and Blimpie have combined to offer a $20,000 reward for information that helps solve this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Virginia Beach Police at 757-385-5000, CrimeLine at 1-888-Lock-U-Up or FBI Norfolk at 757-455-0100.
Flutes possibly contaminated with semen given to California students, schools warn
Schools Warn: Flutes Possibly Contaminated With Semen Given To California Students
Saturday, September 30th, parents were warned of the possibility of a music teacher handing out flutes – tainted with his semen – to the school children.
A state and federal investigation was under way into whether the students at schools around Southern California may have received tainted flutes.
The Los Angeles Unified School District said it was cooperating in an investigation of alleged “inappropriate sexual conduct involving a musical performer” that affected at least 13 school districts.
“One LAUSD school may have been involved”, the district said in a statement.
Several other Southern California districts notified parents by email on Friday and Saturday that a performer associated with the nonprofit group Flutes Across the World was being investigated.
“The performer distributes a flute-like musical instrument made of PVC pipe or bamboo to students during a music lesson, and the allegation is that he contaminated some of these instruments with semen,” Joan Lucid, superintendent of the Saugus Union School District, notified parents on Saturday, the Orange County Register reported.
The performer was not immediately identified.
Messages seeking comment from John Zeretzke, founder of Flutes Across the World, were not immediately returned Saturday night.
Parents in some districts were urged to put the flutes in paper bags and turn them in to authorities for testing.
KNBC-TV reported that a parent identified only as Nate went to the police station in Fountain Valley on Friday night to turn in a flute given to his child, who attends Courreges Elementary School.
“It’s disgusting, it’s unreal, you can’t even really fathom it,” another parent, who wished to not be named, told the station. “It made me sick to my stomach.”
Flutes Across the World has provided musical presentations at several local school districts. The Fullerton School District said fourth- through sixth-graders at two schools had the program in the 2016-2017 school year.
Presenters at such programs “are never alone with children” but the performer won’t return to the district out of “an abundance of caution,” the district said on its website.
The district said the music program was sponsored by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County.
The society sponsored Flutes Across the World to bring the program to six classrooms in three years, spokesman Chantel Uchida told the Register.
“We’re so shocked and disgusted,” Uchida said of the allegations. “We will be stepping back from this. There are no plans to continue it in the future.”
O.J. Simpson is released from prison early Sunday morning
Quietly, O.J. Simpson Is Released From Prison Early Sunday Morning, October 1, 2017 After Serving Nine Years For A 2007 Robbery And Kidnapping Incident In Las Vegas.
The Hall of Fame football player left Lovelock Correctional Center with an unidentified driver at 12:08 a.m., Brooke Keast, a spokeswoman for the Nevada Department of Corrections told The Los Angeles Times, saying simply: “He is out.”
“[The release] was incident free, nobody followed, it was exactly what we’d hoped we could do for public safety,” Keast told reporters. “It was a public safety concern. To make it quiet, under the radar and incident free.”
Simpson, originally sentenced to nine-to-33 years in prison for conducting a sting to retrieve memorabilia from his sports career, was granted parole in July, with a date of “on or after Oct. 1″ set. He had reacted emotionally, mouthing a “thank you” as four members of the Nevada Board of Prisons delivered their votes for parole.
“Floridians are well aware of Mr. Simpson’s background, his wanton disregard for the lives of others, and of his scofflaw attitude with respect to the heinous acts for which he has been found civilly liable,” Pam Bondi wrote in the letter (via Associated Press). “Our state should not become a country club for this convicted criminal.”
Whatever the future holds for Simpson, it is likely to be somewhat surreal, given his past and the circumstances surrounding his parole hearing.
Offered the chance to make a statement, Simpson apologized. “I’ve come here and spent nine years making no excuses about anything. I am sorry things turned out the way they did. … I tell inmates all the time ‘Don’t complain about your grind. Do your time.’ … I believe in the jury system. I will honor the decision. … I have done my time and I’d like to get back to my friends. And believe it or not I do have some friends. I don’t think anyone could have honored this institution better. … I’m sorry it happened.”
Will Simpson live in California, where he was acquitted of double murder in the “trial” of the century in 1995, or will he go to Florida, where he was living before his arrest? And how will he be received after being the subject of a popular miniseries and documentary on his murder trial? Only time will tell.
Man shouting “Allahu Akbar” kills two at French train station
Man Shouting What Could Have Been “Allahu Akbar”, And Kills Two At French Train Station Before Being Shot Dead
Two women were stabbed to death and their assailant shot dead by soldiers in the southern French port city of Marseille on Sunday in what police sources described as a “likely terrorist act”.
Three police sources said the suspect had shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest) as he carried out his attack at Marseille’s main railway station.
The two victims – one aged 17 and the other 20 – suffered gory injuries, two police sources said, saying one had her throat slit while the other was stabbed in the stomach.
“If the military had not been there, we would have had a lot more deaths,” Samia Ghali, lawmaker for the Marseille region, told France Bleu Province radio.
Some 200 police officers had cordoned off the area and all roads were closed to traffic, with security forces saying the operation was still ongoing.
The Paris prosecutor opened a counter-terrorism probe.
France has been in a state of emergency following a spate of attacks by Islamist militants over the last two years, including attacks in Paris in November 2015 which killed 130 people. Other countries, including Britain, Germany and Belgium, have also suffered attacks using knives, guns, explosives and vehicles.
A witness told Reuters she saw a man take out a knife from his sleeve and then stab a young girl and then a second woman, shouting what could have been “Allahu Akbar”.
She added that she saw soldiers from France’s Sentinelle force who were patrolling in the area arrive on the public square at the Gare Saint-Charles station.
Happy Independence Day Nigeria!
As My Nigerian Brothers And Sister Already Know
on October 1,1960, the flag of British Colonial Nigeria was lowered and a new flag was raised. After a century of British influence, the region we know today as Nigeria became a commonwealth realm. As a result, this solidified the new country a sovereign state, and granted it the same political status as all other countries.
Though 1960 is generally celebrated as the birth year of Nigeria, it wasn’t until 1963 that the rule of monarchy was abolished and the Federal Republic of Nigeria was born.
Today we celebrate this diverse nation and its glorious green and white flag. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
