IT Movie Review (Slight Spoilers)

Posted by : lovelyti / On : September 26, 2017 / In : News & Info

Yes I’m late on this but better late than never. A few weeks ago I saw the remake of Stephen King’s novel IT. I can honestly say that this is one of the best horror films that I’ve seen in a very long time.

As most of us know IT tells the story of 7 kids known as the Loser’s Club encountering and eventually combating a mysterious shapeshifting entity called IT also known by its favorite form; Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Let me start off by saying the the major thing that I enjoyed a lot about this movie are the kids. Their acting was on point and all of them were very likable. The movie took its time to show each of the kids back stories and what fears Pennywise uses to scare them.

One thing that I particularly noticed how they balance the horror and suspense with comedy, when the kids aren’t being terrorized by Pennywise the scenes with them are actually very hilarious. It pretty much shows just how kids act when their parents aren’t around.

Now let’s move on to our main villain, IT otherwise known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Compared to the 90s miniseries this version of Pennywise is definitely more deranged than its previous 90s counterpart. Bill Skarsgard did an amazing job as Pennywise and was very intimidating.

The only gripes I can saw I can have with this movie are the bullies getting off a little too easy and Ben Hanscom being the historian of the group vs Mike Hanlon

Overall I can say that I definitely got my money’s worth when I saw this movie and I look forward to its sequel in 2019. Hopefully the sequel can carry the same tone as this one. On a scale of 1-10 I give IT a solid 9!
