Get Out Movie Review

Posted by : lovelyti / On : February 25, 2017 / In : News & Info

You know a horror/psychological thriller is good when it low key messes with your mind after you’re finished seeing it. What movie am I speaking of you ask, that movie is Get Out which i had the opportunity to see last night.

Before I start my review let me just say, big props to Jordan Peele for writing and directing this movie. I love him as a comedian and the fact that this movie has proven that he is an excellent writer and director not  just for comedy but for different genres as well. I definitely look forward to his future projects.

The movie tells of the story of a black guy named Chris who’s in an interracial relationship with with a white girl named Rose, and they take a trip to her parent’s estate for a big party her parents are throwing. It was during this visit where a lot of discomfort and very weird and creepy things take place.

The movie has a good balance of satire, horror, comedy, and social issues. In this movie instead of the racism being straightforward its more subtle. By subtle I mean that its less of a hatred and more of an envious tone. During the get together scene a lot of Rose’s parents friends remark how great his physical condition and how they envy his youth and physical prowess.  There is plenty of dialogue in this movie but it’s great at grabbing your attention so when the horror begins you’re already deeply invested into the movie.

The acting was great, everyone from David Kaluuya to Allison Williams to Bradley Whitford did great jobs in this movie. Lil Rel Howry is gold as the comedy relief character. The tension was great and there were a few jump scares the were done very well.

On a scale of 1 to 10 i definitely give this movie a solid 10. It’s worth the money to see and I look forward to seeing more of Jordan Peele’s movies, particularly horror movies should he choose to do more. If you have the opportunity, go see it this weekend!
