My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women In Hip Hop

The other night BET aired its first ever original music documentary special, My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women In Hip Hop – a new film directed and executive produced by Ava DuVernay, taking an in-depth look at the role of female rappers in Hip Hop. Featuring interviews with music executives, journalists, artists (including Missy Elliott, Eve, Trina, Rah Digga, Roxanne Shante, MC Lyte, Yo Yo and Lady of Rage and Jean Grae) and Hip Hop moguls (Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles), the documentary “examines gender-specific differences in artistry, marketing, promotion and economics, explores why there are far fewer female than male MCs, and discusses whether there’s still a place for women in Hip Hop.” (Soul Culture)

Young Buck Plans to Sue 50 Cent

Young Buck is planning to sue 50 Cent to get released from his contract with G-Unit Records.
His lawyer Lynda Jones sent a statement to Nashville’s The City Pape saying that Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, intends to pay off his bankruptcy and sue 50.
“Mr. Brown intends to reorganize his debts and pay off the IRS in a timely manner through Chapter 13. We hope to secure the return of his personal property quickly. He will also be filing a lawsuit in the next 30-60 days against his former manager, G Unit label and Mr. Curtis Jackson.
“There are a few procedural hurdles we need to address in handling these matters, but they will ironed out shortly. I will be associating attorneys Amy Everhart and Jennifer Lawson for the litigation. Both have excellent experience.”
Buck has been trying to get off the label and release a new album since 2007.
In a filing with Nashville’s U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Young Buck cited as a $5 million contingent his claim against Bruce Seckendorf, G Unit Inc., Curtis Jackson III and Michael Clervoix.

Boosie was originally incarcerated for probation violation, before facing a first degree murder charge…
if he is convicted he could very well receive the death penalty.
Before he began his prison sentence, famed videographers at Motion Family captured his final moments with family and friends.
