Akon is suing a former business partner for copyright infringement

Konvict Music mogul and artists Akon is suing a former business partner for copyright infringement for using his name and likeness on a new fragrance.
According to published reports, the Konvict fragrance which was released in March, was not authorized by the singer; although initially it was supposed to be.
In a lawsuit filed with the Manhattan Federal Court, Akon claims that he initially proposed the idea of a fragrance line with fragrance developers, but never reached any agreement to further the development.
Akon claims that although no agreement was reached, the developers not only formed a fragrance group using his label’s trade marked name “Konvict”, but also started selling the scent “Konvict” without his approval.
Konvict Cosmetics has yet to respond to allegations and couldn’t be reached for comment.

since Weezy’s locked up, she decided to do the next best thing…
she brought all her home girls to the video shoot.
The remix features Kandi Buruss, “video vixen” turned “rapper” Lola Luv Monroe,
Atlanta rapper Diamond, and Lil Wayne’s baby mother/Ex wife Toya Carter.

Alicia and Swizz celebrated her mother Teresa’s 60th birthday at Hudson Terrace on Saturday night. Swizz sang “happy birthday” to his (future mother in law)…ok maybe I’m reaching, but he did sing to her. shortly after that Swizz and Alicia led Teresa outside, where a Shiny brand new black Cadillac was waiting for her….
Must be nice=) she looks really good for age too.

The chick that Remy Ma shot is suing Universal…

Makeda Barnes-Joseph is the chick that rapper Remy Ma, shot a few years go well she is now looking to get paid for the 2007 incident….can you blame her she took 2 to the gut,
and had to undergo a lot of surgeries…
Remy shot her former friend over a financial dispute…with friends like that who needs enemies.

Making the allegations that the rapper’s label promotes violence and also failed to act after the shooting, Barnes-Joseph is filing a lawsuit against Universal Music Group.
“Universal hires and encourages rap artists to act violently and engage in anti-social behavior in order to sell CDs. Thus, part of the performer’s persona promoted by the company is to ‘keep it real’ and remain ‘gangsta,” stated lawyers Barnes-Joseph.
Opening oral arguments began earlier this week in New York Supreme Court.
Filing the suit back in 2008, she claimed that the company encouraged their artist’s criminal behavior by allowing Remy Ma to have violence in her music and continuing to hold her as an “employee” during the criminal investigation.
In response, the label has countered with a motion summary judgment to have the complaint dismissed, which was granted last April by Judge Betty Owen.
Lauren P. Raysor, the attorney for Barnes-Joseph, filed an Appellate Brief to appeal the decision and made the argument that her client’s case was not given due process as “the Court either disregarded or misunderstood the employment status of Remy Smith, aka “Remy Ma,” with Universal Music Group at the time of the shooting.”
The rapper is currently serving time in New York’s penal system with an 8 year sentence to face. There is an ongoing appeal in relation to her conviction which could find her being released earlier, otherwise she will be eligible for release in 2013.
Remembering Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez

Yesterday marked eight years since the tragic passing of TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
Lisa was killed in a fatal car crash in Honduras.
Lisa was taken way too soon, In the 90s TLC brought for a powerful message,
they spoke about female empowerment, safe sex and being yourself!
All 3 of them had there own unique style, but Lisa stood out because,
not only could she sing, but her rap game was always on point!
RIP Left Eye your family and fan miss you a lot!
